Inside this small jar is sand from the beaches of Normandy… Years ago, one of my followers who lived near the beaches gathered it up and mailed it to me. Since then, it has sat in my office as a reminder of June 6, 1944, and the sacrifice made by so many. When I was still on patrol, I had a tradition. Every year on D-Day, I would take this jar with me. It would ride along for the day. Just as a small way to remember. Now that I’m retired, I still feel like that tradition needs to continue. So today, this jar goes with me. A little sand. A lot of sacrifice. Never forgotten. 🇺🇸
