Watching Educating Rita. God we used to make some good stuff. Now everything is 'heartwarming' and starring Jim Broadbent and Imelda Staunton with an indie acoustic soundtrack and a plot about a dysfunctional community overcoming hurdles together and called The Great Scruffthorpe Choir Project

@i2cjak You're right that devices are designed defensively, but I now own 2 chinaslop devices that will only charge with _their_ supplied "USB-C" cable...and that cable will not charge any other USB-C device, PD or not. I guess they ignore the spec and just use 2 random pins for power?

it’s crazy that we let people like this operate motor vehicles 1. USB-C cables INVARIABLY have a CC line. 2. I’ve read the USB-PD spec, you can’t even read 3. Your expensive USB-PD compliant device (phone, laptop) is designed defensively to not be damaged in any way when non-compliant chargers are used

I have a genuine tip for you all. If you find your old DVD R Home movies no longer play on your DVD player simply buy a blu ray player. They have a much stronger laser reader (or whatever it’s called) and in my experience they will often play them. End of tip.
