Traditional flows rely on sign-ups, keys, invoices, and regional gateways, good, but heavy. The web already has a native way to say “payment required”: HTTP 402. With x402, any Saipayment resource becomes a metered, on-demand product that settles instantly and works for people and AI agents—no accounts needed. This move ties our strengths, multi-chain settlement, SAI Cards, NFT checkout, programmable payouts, into one predictable loop: request, quote, pay, deliver. It lowers partner integration cost, improves unit economics, and ships globally by default.
