Fascinating WSJ story showing that many Booomers are not only not downsizing their homes, they're instead upsizing and getting large ones. Empty-nest baby boomers own 28% of U.S. homes with three bedrooms compared with 16% for millennials with children. wsj.com/economy/housin…

@KFILE We are elder Gen Xers with grown children and no grandkids. We just bought a two-bedroom, 1000 sq foot house, which is plenty. I don't understand why anyone in our position wants a big home.

@KFILE Interesting how hellishly defensive all the big-house boomers are! I didn't judge. I said "I DON"T UNDERSTAND" why anyone in "OUR POSITION" (no kids to entertain) wants a big home. Chill out, people.

@annbauerwriter @KFILE Elder Gen X here, too. The Boomers I know who’re clinging to their oversized houses even as property taxes and maintenance costs drain their retirement accounts are the ones terrified of moving next to the “wrong sort” of neighbors if they sell.

@effthealgorithm @annbauerwriter @KFILE We've just had to sell my very sick 84 yr old sister's home she's lived in for over sixty years. Her home was never an investment tool to make money off of. It was her sanctuary where she made her memories. Call it clinging, if you want. And yes, she is terrified of moving.
