@IchimokuSatoshi i feel the bible is very clear on this as well. in protestantism its a very assumption based appeal to emotion and not logic. when i first came to protestantism i was initially looking for an orthodox church in texas they are very lacking in this area luckily found a parish.

You say Acts 10 disproves baptismal regeneration because Cornelius received the Holy Spirit before water baptism? That actually proves the opposite. Peter didn’t treat Spirit baptism as sufficient — he immediately asked, “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people?” (Acts 10:47). If baptism were just a public symbol, Peter would’ve declared it unnecessary. Instead, he orders it—clearly showcasing Cornelius needed Spirit AND water to complete the salvation process. I never said order was important. You’re inventing a theology Scripture never teaches: that Spirit baptism saves, and water is just a public gesture. But the early Church never made that separation. In fact, the apostles always baptized with water (Acts 2:38, 8:36–38, 22:16), because that’s how you are born again of water and Spirit (John 3:5). They didn’t treat it as optional or symbolic. Baptism is BOTH—water AND spirit—not one or the other. Saying “baptism doesn’t save” directly contradicts the Bible: “Baptism now saves you — not as a removal of dirt, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience…” (1 Peter 3:21) “Repent and be baptized… for the forgiveness of your sins…” (Acts 2:38) Even Acts 1:5 — “You will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” — is not a rejection of water baptism. Jesus is speaking specifically about Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit would descend on the apostles to empower them for ministry. This was a unique event tied to their apostolic mission, not a general doctrine about how all believers are regenerated. It has nothing to do with denying the necessity of water baptism for those coming to Christ (cf. John 3:5, Acts 2:38). In fact, immediately after Pentecost, Peter commands the crowd: “Repent and be baptized… for the forgiveness of your sins.” (Acts 2:38) So rather than replacing baptism, Pentecost inaugurates the age in which baptismal regeneration is offered to all through water and the Spirit.
