@DRFPrivman Several Churchill press boxes ago while covering my first Derby in 1984 I just happened to sit next to Jay a ``veteran'' covering his third. Jay has been a treasured voice in the sport. So many have been fortunate to call Jay a friend during his iconic career. New chapters await

I remember when Roy Williams brought his Kansas team to play Penn because longtime radio man Max Falkenstien had always wanted to work a game at the Palestra where KU legend Wilt Chamberlain once played. That was Roy, an incredibly genuine man, always thinking of others.

Been trying to gather the words to express how much this man meant to me. To know me is to know I wore my heart on my sleeve when it came to coach. He changed so many lives, none more than mine. I will miss him dearly but he will always be part of me and who I am. Love you coach
John Chaney was a brilliant man and a great coach. He got the most out of his players because he believed in them as students, athletes, and individuals, and they knew he would always have their backs. RIP to a true legend.
The stream of consciousness Christmas Eve shows. The wild press conferences. The phone calls where you just listened to the wisdom. The office sessions that would never end. The times playing golf at Walnut Lane. And, yes, even the basketball. John Chaney, an American original.
Happy birthday to two-time @BreedersCup Mile winner Da Hoss (Gone West) who is 29 years old today! Da Hoss was on the board in 19 of 20 starts, with 12 wins, and was graded placed on dirt in addition to his turf triumphs. Trained by @TapetaF to both Mile victories (1996, 1998).
@totally_t_bomb In the 1990 round of 64, Paul Westhead left Bo Kimble in the game when he picked up his *fourth* foul with 4:45 left in the first half. Kimble played the whole game.
Those were the days….
19 years ago, Richard Drew shot a picture of a man falling through the sky. It was published the next day and then disappeared, as a taboo image. But it has since become a symbol for all that was lost that day. RIP, the fallen, and the falling.

MJC prez Sal Sinatra to @theTDN regarding GMax timing system: "I don't think GPS is exact enough. You have to be exact with time. It's frustrating. It's almost to the point now, if they don't change it soon I'm gonna have to not put times up after the race and use my hand timer"
Sinatra had this good news for bettors: he said The Jockey Club president Jim Gagliano confirmed that Equibase now plans to integrate "beam" times into its GMax GPS software. "Maybe the lengths will be a little off," he said. "I'm not sure, but at least times will be accurate."
