If assassinating leaders like Khamenei and Larijani becomes “normal,” what exactly stops the U.S.-Israeli axis from trying the same playbook on Russia or China the moment they think the circumstances allow it?

@KevorkAlmassian And what exactly stops Iran and its allies from trying the same playbook on the US? Without doubt they will do it to israel.

@KevorkAlmassian If they assassinated Putin or Xi the US/Israel would cease to exist via a massive nuclear strike. Iran doesn't have that capability.

@KevorkAlmassian They don’t abide by the laws of war and are making it acceptable to assassinate opposing leaders. Just wait until the tables are turned and then we will see how they cry for law and order.

@KevorkAlmassian What happens when Iran goes Israeli-style and blows up DC condo to get a single US official? These are ugly, consequential precedents being set.

@KevorkAlmassian Trump already tried assassinating Putin at Valdai. End of Dec, right after they spoke and CIA launched a bunch of drones. Proof was handed over to the US rep in Kremlin. Putin and Trump haven’t spoken since that assassination attempt until Iran war kicked off.

@KevorkAlmassian you asked the wrong question: what does this prevent russia / china or any other countries from assassinating our leaders?

Khamenei’s regime tried the same and missed in both the United States and Israel. So, essentially, you’re only condemning U.S.-Israeli competence. Had the Mullahs been successful in their attempts, I wager you’d have remained silent. I know you’re addressing the absent-minded and suggestible crowd; and you’re absolutely free to do so. However, in case you don’t want anyone to hurl the truth at you, do that in private group chats and channels; don’t insult our intelligence as single individuals.

@KevorkAlmassian Do you really think Russia and China are incapable of assassinating U.S. and Israeli leaders? Do you really believe they are incapable of wiping out an entire government leadership?

@KevorkAlmassian There is a reason why leadership was traditionally off limits. This game can be played by many. All centralized systems are vulnerable. Also, once you take off the public nodes in a decentralized network who do you negotiate a ceasefire with?

@KevorkAlmassian I would worry more re: Russia b/c it’s a less entrenched political order. Even if they do it in China, results wld be more or less the same as Iran. China is arguably the hardest country on earth to do regime change in

Our security architecture rests on the logic of deterrence: the certainty that a major aggression would trigger a nuclear response. However, the threshold for such a response now appears increasingly difficult to reach, which leaves room for actions that would previously have seemed unthinkable

@KevorkAlmassian Don’t worry Russia and China can do the same. But I’m sure what you really want is for USA to not have that capability. You only want your buddies in Russia and China to be able to do that.

@KevorkAlmassian what exactly stops the U.S.-Israeli axis from trying the same playbook on Russia or China? The time it takes them to test the global reaction to their crimes, while they practice on targets in the Middle East.
