On this day in 1969, the first Concorde supersonic transport, Concorde 001, made its inaugural flight. The first supersonic airliner to enter service, the Concorde flew thousands of passengers across the Atlantic at twice the speed of sound for over 25 years.

57 years ago, this day, Concorde 001, the French prototype (F-WTSS), made its historic first flight on March 2, 1969, taking off from Toulouse-Blagnac airport in France. Piloted by André Turcat, the maiden flight lasted 27–40 minutes, reaching 10,000 feet with the landing gear down. Upon landing, Turcat famously remarked"The big bird flies!". The flight did not exceed 300 mph and stayed at lower altitudes for safety and handling characteristics at low speeds with the landing gear and nose visor lowered. While the maiden flight was subsonic, Concorde 001 later achieved its first supersonic flight on October 1, 1969. The flight was the culmination of years of joint effort between Sud Aviation (France) and British Aircraft Corporation (UK). In addition to the Chief Pilot André Turcat, the crew Included Henri Perrier, Michel Retif, and Jacques Guinard Following this, the British prototype (002) made its first flight from Filton, Bristol, shortly after, leading to years of testing before entering commercial service in 1976.

Yes.In the late 1980s, prior to privatisation, Indian airports were managed by the government and except for the 4 hubs, lacked the infrastructure to efficiently handle the advanced Airbus A320, which was introduced by Indian Airlines to modernize its fleet. Key constraints included outdated navigation aids, inadequate runway strength and length, and limited terminal capacity, which created operational challenges during the induction of the A320.
