Pistons went into the play offs with Cade and 4 one way players and their solution to that is another one way scorer thats biggest defensive liability on the team and does this in the play offs

I agree on the Ron point I feel like he’ll find his offensive role faster than Ron and could reach Ron’s defensive level too. A 6’8 wing that can take you off the dribble, iso and make reads sounds worth taking. I could see him running offense when Cade isn’t on the floor or even when he’s out there to get the ball out his hands. If the shot comes along he could start at the 2 and have no one out there shorter than Cade

It will be the worst thing they could do even if contracts increase as the cap increases some contracts remain bad years later. Lavine, sabonis, poeltl, quickly, Fox, pg, grant, Poole, etc saying the cap will go up to justify having Jd on 40m dollar contract while not having a true second option is the wrong choice. It will have the team realizing they made the wrong bet and trying to pivot when Cade is 30 while being fake competitive until then.

Paying a traditional, non-shooting big man over 30 million dollars is a massive trap. If you look at NBA history, teams only win titles spending big on centers in two scenarios: - They either have a superstar offensive hub like Nikola Jokic or Karl-Anthony Towns taking up over 25 percent of the cap, or an elite floor-spacer like Kristaps Porzingis taking up around 18 percent. For a pure rim protector like Walker Kessler, history says you need to keep that slot under 10 percent of your cap, just like the Warriors did with Andrew Bogut or the Thunder did with Chet Holmgren. Dropping 30 million on Kessler means he would eat up nearly 20 percent of a 165 million dollar cap. You just cannot win a championship paying elite unicorn money to a defensive specialist. The Jazz can't budge on this.

@D_D_Pistons_Fan It was the same thing with Tobias and Duncan last year but at least Tobias had the strength to defend the position, Trey isn’t even a four and hero is just as bad as Duncan on defense. We saw how much dribble penetration those 2 gave up.

This would be awful when you include the picks it takes to do it and look at the depth that is left. (Ku is not recommending this by the way) If the Pistons get Murphy, he should be SF and Ausar should play SG in my opinion.

Nah him gaining 15 pounds takes away from his superpower and removes him from where he’s best at. You want Cade on every teams best guard? Or Trey? Ausar is the best screen navigator itl and even tho he can technically guard 1-5 he struggles with bigger forwards. I don’t think we should take him out of his current role of shutting down opps best ball handlers and taking them out the game.

NBA Draft is less than 10 days away, its board season. Top 42. Trades are looming but really hope the Pistons keep their ticket, I think this class is worth the hype especially if you could use a guard

@KuKhahil Do you know if they view Trey as a 4 or 3? I would prefer the lineup to be Cade-Ausar-Trey-4-Jd. I don't know if he's really a 4 defensively.

I can also say based off what I’ve heard recently/since season ended, Pistons fans do not need to be concerned about Trajan Langdon not being aggressive to improve this team. I’ve been told that the FO has been extremely active looking at multiple avenues to improve—including moving up a few spots on the draft to get a player they’ve identified.

With Marc Stein reporting it just now (link will be below), I can comment: I can confirm that the Pistons interest in Trey Murphy is very real. He said la had a 2 way contract and he and his agents had came down to a list of teams and basically chose where he wanted to go instead of getting drafted in the second round. He could have also preferred LA over Detroit but it wasn’t the whole “Detroit” thing well at least that’s not what he’s on the record saying
