I don’t think this proves anything. What go to move(s) besides flashes of “ok” footwork and that low gather euro did he show? Is he an offensive hub? Does he have a middy? When he didn’t get bailed out by free throws in the playoffs his ppp on drives was horrible. He was figured out and there was no counter to go to. He’s not dynamic enough to be second option in the 2026 nba.

Per NBA.com, 64.8% of Jalen Duren's made field goals were assisted Of Pistons rotation players, that's 8th The percent of FGs made by Jalen Duren, of his his total FGs made, that were assisted was 360th in the NBA last season Some big names with a higher percentage of assisted made FGs: Nikola Vucevic - 82% OG Anunoby - 78.9% Lauri Markkanen - 78.6% Trey Murphy - 76.9% Victor Wembanyama - 70.2% Chet Holmgren - 69.8% Duren is NOT a lobs & boards offensive player. He's a #2 scoring option #detroitbasketball

Revisionist history bro ayton could have been all of that in a 65 game rule season. Ayton was 18 and 10 on similar efficiency and a middy game. And I still love duren but objectively paying a big who isn’t your second option or defensive anchor 44m is ridiculous. It’s not just the playoffs for me I had been saying this all season he was never dynamic enough to deserve that kind of money he’s not a spacer or rim protector. People over perform in contract years but when it came to actually game planning for him he was too easy to become a non factor. Even mentally to be that rattled that u stop doing what you’re good at like rebounding and finishing, his hands were horrible which means he was shook to his core. I’m not investing that much into a guy who can literally forget how to be a big man, he didn’t even have to be the second option atp.

@7mntive @Hustel21 @DETsportsfan12 @KuKhahil Ayton was never an all star or all nba guy lmao. Before the playoffs started everybody loved duren. I don’t understand how u let 14 bad games override the 60+ elite games he had this year. Playoffs shook him and he will figure it out just like how he figured out the reg season.

@Hustel21 @KuKhahil You mean u don’t want to pay the rim running, non spacing, not the anchor of your defense, not your second option big man $43m? But he’s 22!!!

@KuKhahil If they sign him anywhere close to this deal I'm done watching this team lol. He might prove me wrong and everything but it's an insane number for a player like him

100% and u didn’t even mention the fact that we STILL need a second option on top of those guys taking up 80% of the cap. The nba is showing that depth is so important now and you’re telling me that you’re going to pay these 3 that much BEFORE even addressing the need for a second creator. This team’s chances will die this summer if they pay him that much. They be stuck being a 4 seed that fizzles out in the second round every year because the offense is not good enough.

@kd_3767 @KuKhahil The supporting cast; role players such as Tobias, Duncan, Stew, Jenkins, etc is only going to get harder to fill with Cade, Ausar, & Duren making $40+ million a year. Not saying our supporting cast was good this year, but good luck finding good players with that top heavy payroll

@Hustel21 @DETsportsfan12 @KuKhahil Duren played very poorly i’m not denying that. But a lot of young players struggle in the playoffs. You have to give him the chance to come back and improve especially after he just had an all star and all nba season. You just simply can’t get rid of a 22 year old all nba player.

You see him shooting 45% middy and getting a tight handle at 6’10 250 and post game? Cause they clearly took away that weak ass low gather euro from the RS. And we kno he will never be a defensive anchor he just doesn’t have the feel for it so we’re betting his offense will get to a level so high he will be our second option? There is an offensive ceiling with a traditional big and wing that can’t shoot so when will they make it work? They might be young but this year 4 and 5 where is this offensive trajectory that you’re seeing?

It was bro it definitely was😭ku kept saying “you gotta pay him the max you gotta pay him the max” during the season and I kept commenting hell no. I don’t him to walk because he is 22 and talented like you’re saying I’m not a jd hater I like him but I’m just being objective. You cannot pay a center who is not your defensive anchor or second option $44m. During the season I saw he wasn’t dynamic enough regardless of what he was doing. That low gather euro shit was fluke and when he stopped getting bailed out by fouls it didn’t work. He’s not a spacing 5, Giannis level driver/passer or a defensive anchor so why would you pay a center 44m

@7mntive @blue_is_coo @KuKhahil Again missing the point,UNLESS your stance EVEN B4 the playoffs was let Duren walk, what your saying isn’t valid, but not betting on a 22 year old cuz he had his first bad playoff series i can’t get behind that, you can’t give him a mx but he can’t walk either yall are crazy

Jalen Duren’s max with him making All-NBA now is 5yr/287.1 million (57.4 AAV) *I was told as of April 9th* The most an opposing team can offer him in RFA is 4yr/177.4 (44.3 AAV). I very much struggle to see a future where JD and his camp accept anything less than 40 AAV.

@___LordKnows @blue_is_coo @KuKhahil Like yes I would rather split his money between Gafford, toppin AND Isiah joe if it means I can remain flexible and get the second option that we clearly need

@7mntive @blue_is_coo @KuKhahil You missing the point, letting Duren walk & potentially ending up with a lesser player or “nobody” is a bigger risk than signing a 22 year old who’s still getting/can get better

I’m saying how do you get “nobody” if you’re turning over every stone get guys that you think fit your team? I forgot about Duncan too traded for him and he was one of our most important players as well. How do you think if they’re aggressive in team building this summer they will get “nobody”???

@7mntive @blue_is_coo @KuKhahil How does it work? Your Detroit you decided to let Duren leave, who are you contacting to give a contract to & for how much? Or if u trading who you trading & for who?

@RichardPrince_ Like that contract and what it sounds like Ausar will get + Cade will be like 75-80% of the cap I love Cade and Ausar but that offensive ceiling is just TOO low for those 3 to take up that much because we’ll clearly still need a second option after that. It been real JD✌️

Bye mf you crazy as fuck if you pay a non shooting center that can’t rim protect 40 Ms That’s a death sentence. Thank you for your contributions. You can still hit club in summer with Cade

@7mntive @blue_is_coo @KuKhahil & That type of thinking will literally have you walking out of free agency with NOBODY, I’m not paying Duren but imma pay SOMEBODY, you either getting nothing or overpaying for a worse player

I think you’re over thinking the word contributing players thj, Beasley, Tobias, Caris(didn’t contribute but was supposed to), traded for shroder, reed, and Javonte all CONTRIBUTED to the team. I’m just saying paying 75% of the cap to the trio takes away chances of even those kinds of key role players for depth. And this is all before we even get to addressing the need for a TRUE second option
