In big elections especially Governorship, the best candidate must be fielded by parties, but it seems APC Kwara wants to mess this up. Elections are won by finest margins & the thought of dropping Ambassador Abdulfatai, who everyone trusts as a seasoned grassroot mobiliser must not be entertained by Kwara APC and the National Secretariat. Based on what I have read from trusted sources on ground, Amb. Abdulfatai should be the candidate & the leadership of APC should stick with the decision to make him the party's flag bearer.

What are we going to do about this Mayor of Brampton that is always handing out certificate of recognition to every Tom, dick and harry that comes visiting Canada from Nigeria? Is this thing a racket or he’s just jobless?

As usual in Nigeria, we always look for individuals to blame and won’t bother to look at things holistically. From blaming Ambode to now blaming Muyiwa Gbadesh, how about we look at the issues critically and come up with a solution? And no it’s not about Tokunbo Wahab either.

Everyone is forced to be in Lagos. And I mean “deliberately” forced to be in Lagos to serve capitalism. You probably don’t know this because you don’t understand how the capitalist economy of Nigeria is set up to work. When you extract the value of the whole country and concentrate it in one location, it serves the capitalists, as people will be forced by lack of activities to leave their original location (where they live rent free and grow their own food) to Lagos where they will have no choice than slave for capitalism just to afford to pay for the same rent and food they had for free. Capitalism needs people who are desperate to eat and pay rent to survive. It was not by accident that every headquarters and every key infrastructure and public service was concentrated in Lagos. It was deliberate. It’s also not by accident that insecurity is trafficked everywhere else before it get to Lagos. It is deliberate. It’s very important you educate yourself on how systems work, to avoid embarrassing yourself by asking people if they are forced to be in Lagos. Of course, they are forced to be in Lagos.

There’s an interesting TL debate about what’s going on in APC Kwara, and I am tempted to say one or two: The 2027 election will be won by the finest margins, and for that reason, the popularity and electoral strength of the select candidates is not negotiable. In a winner-takes-all State like Kwara, you need a candidate that can spark voter/follower enthusiasm to deliver the wave for the Presidential elections first and later for themselves in the Gubernatorial. This is why I believe APC would be making a big mistake in Kwara if they rescind the decision to field Ambassador Abdulfatai, who is a proven grassroots mobilizer, and replace him with someone else who is probably from a low-voting population block and definitely not as popular even among neutrals. That would be an unforced error that would cede advantage to their opposition. Sen Saraki’s block appears to be regrouping strongly for one last push to reclaim Kwara. You can be certain that they would exploit any crack and capitalize on it. If APC wants to keep Kwara State, the safest path is to stick behind a proven politician who has been tested and trusted to mobilize votes across zones.
