This is why sportswriters typically make the best sports radio hosts. They know how to organize their thoughts, find angles and listen to others. Almost every ex-athlete I worked with at WEEI was bad on the air.
Kendall Baker@kendallbaker

Hot take: Most sports journalists get worse at analysis when they stop writing and go full podcast/video mode. And it makes sense why. Writing forces you to slow down and organize your thoughts. Writing is where you pressure-test your ideas. Podcasts let you just… say stuff.

I want to subscribe to either the New Yorker or WSJ. I was using the internet archive to read them but that doesn’t work anymore. Which one should I subscribe to? I’m primarily interested in paying for smart features & reporting on culture and trends.

@powellAtlantic Yes there are great suburbs in many places! Not that I would necessarily want to live in Bethesda over D.C., but I see the appeal for rich people with families. That’s the key word, “rich.” All of the nice NE, Cali, PW, Chicago suburbs are crazy expensive. Q

All of this debate about living in the suburbs makes me realize that New England is so unique. Many of the suburbs around Boston have cute and walkable downtowns and are downright bucolic. The best suburbs in the country, along with metro NY and NJ.

@powellAtlantic He has no chance. His star has already faded and we’re still 1.5 years before the ‘28 campaign begins in earnest.

It’s crazy that Trump won and I never thought it would happen. He seemed so insane and mentally unfit in 2016. But looking back at old clips from that campaign, he was 1000X sharper than he is now. We didn’t know how good we had it.
Ross Barkan@RossBarkan

Something the Gen Alpha generation will never understand is how absolutely insane it was for Donald Trump to end up president at all. He'll be viewed retroactively now - *of course* he loomed over the 2010s and 2020s - but that original perspective, one day, will be lost to time

@Chris_Mench Yes for sure! I think it helps that many of them were built before cars.

@AlexReimer1 It's really more of a Sun Belt conversation with all of their lifeless subdivisions & strip malls. Most of the older northeastern suburbs are lovely w/ nice downtowns and transit options.

@BartHomersson Oh for sure. Absurdly expensive and unattainable, at least for me.

@AlexReimer1 If you can afford to live there. Somehow the suburbs cost even more than Boston.

@AlexReimer1 Agreed! This is what we loved about our home near Newburyport, MA — even if, admittedly, the density and number of such towns still fell quite short of what we have here in Marin County.

@SopanDeb As a BU alum, it’s getting increasingly hard to support that school. No spine from admin and charging kids like $90K now for tuition. Really hard to like BU at this point.

When it comes adapting technology for sex, queer people are always on the cutting edge. We pioneered personal ads, online dating and geolocation apps. History tells us that chatbots won’t be any different. queerty.com/rise-of-the-ro…

@mattlindner I had dinner and drinks at the Marriott Courtyard bar in Wheeling during MNF and it was a sociological study.

The hotel lobby bar is its own ecosystem. Vacationers, work travelers, everyone looking for a release from the mundanity of their daily lives without having to travel far from the safety of their rooms. Endlessly fascinating.

This is a big reason why high-profile Dems are pushing tax-free policies. There is so much disillusionment right now & many people feel like the federal government in particular does nothing for them. It’s an understandable view: our hard-earned tax dollars go towards bombs & ICE
Anthony LaMesa@ajlamesa

Americans aren't just losing faith in party politics -- they're losing faith in our country. Every four-hour TSA queue, absurd medical bill, terrifying transit ride, or week-long school closure is a small lesson that the United States isn't working -- and that alienation compounds. It's perhaps the biggest crisis we're facing.

On one hand, I think it’s funny that ICE agents will be relegated to checking IDs at the airport. On the other hand, I feel like ICE will now never leave airports and this will become a way to control our movement. With this administration, you always have to assume the worst.
