@BwalaDaniel This is arranged judgment. Decentralise the FGN, and all our problems will be solved. We have more fundamental issues to address than the LGAs e.g. security, education, health, etc.
English

Thank God for the Supreme Court verdict on local government autonomy to the effect that “it is unconstitutional for state governments to hold onto LG funds; henceforth FGN pay directly to LGAs.
One victory down.
The next is either a constitutional review or court verdict declaring that INEC to conduct LG elections, otherwise governors might still use LG chairmen appointed by them to hold the monies in trust for them
Governors are the problem of good governance, but many people don’t know. Do you know how much they have received since @officialABAT took office? Tell me what they are doing in their states to address hunger and unemployment?
In my opinion even media houses hardly stay long on this conversation because their major clients are state governments.
This democracy requires all of us to move it forward ohh. There is God ohhhhh

@Oluwafemi_MlSct @afrisagacity What is the number of individuals who have been wrongly arrested without sufficient evidence or justification?"
English

@afrisagacity While we condemn the unjust arrest of innocent people, let's also recognize that having data doesn't give anyone the right to talk down and cyberbully others. I'm glad to see these things happen, as it may help reduce the toxicity on this platform. Ire o!

Toyin Abraham arresting Ayo: A Sneak Peek of a reckless use of Her “Elite Status”
No doubt, Toyin Abraham wears the cloak of the average “Nigerian elite,” posing as an unrefined opportunist, with patched ego - who eats from the elevated “plate of fortune” and empties her mucky bowel on the face of the “poor.”
Haven’t felt so much pang as I did tonight, learning of the thoughtless arrest on @jeffrybest11 mum and his wife - much so, for an offense that’s rudely miscalculated, wrongly alleged, and easily dismissible.
The story about what happened…

@_officialczar @renoomokri You can farm and cows will destroy your crops and you get harmed by herders if you complain
English

When food is too expensive, one solution is to come on social media and attack the government. Another solution is to go to the back of your house and plant crops. You live in Nigeria, you know. Our soil is very fertile. We have maximum sunshine. If you plant a tomato seed today, in 50 days, you will have a harvest. If you grow peppers today, in 90 days, you can pluck peppers and eat or sell them.
We have this attitude of 'weather for two' when it rains. And after increasing our population, without doing any cultivation, we will come on social media to attack the government and insult those who proffer solutions.
Use your energy not just for pleasure. You can even grow these vegetables and food crops indoors. Our government has its weaknesses. But we, as a people, also have our shortcomings.
Please fact-check me: 55% of Americans grow food at home. 78% of Britons maintain a garden at home. Tinubu does not have to come and plant your vegetables for you. First, do your own part before you insult the President for not doing his part.

@tonyajah @renoomokri You would have taken time to show us all that you have mentioned.
English

@renoomokri Reno the clout chasers, stop deceiving people with your divisive posts. Do you know where Alabaarago is?
Why not show us the pictures of the place before and after demolition.
You should be talking about the achievement of your principal but yours is to hate.

English

Alaba Rago market was demolished between yesterday and today, and there has not been an outcry from Mutanen Arewa in Lagos that this demolition was targeted at them. No social media trend accusing the Lagos State Government of "ethnic baiting". No Presidential candidate of Northern origin stoking sentiments against Lagos and its people. Neither did the leaders of Arewa Consultative Forum or the Northern Elders Forum interfere in a purely local matter.
Rather, Mutanen Arewa and all their institutions and elders cooperated with the Lagos State Government. These are the types of good neighbours that make Nigeria a great nation and are one of the reasons I have a passionate love for Arewa.
If you look at this 1891 Lagos Census figures that I attached to this post, you will notice that Northerners constituted almost 4% of the population in Lagos for almost 150 years. Yet, they have never claimed ownership of Lagos or, dragged it with the indigenous people, or even asserted that they, above others, developed Lagos.
Yet, they are influential and have had their kith and kin in office as military dictators and elected Presidents. But despite that, they have respected themselves and their hosts and continue to add value to the Gross Domestic Product of Lagos without trying to edge out those who welcomed them with open arms.
We pray that all others in the Nigerian project will learn from the peaceful religious, social and economic coexistence between Mutanen Arewa and Lagosians.
May God bless Nigeria, and may God bless Arewa, and for the peace, progress and stability of our nation, may political and military power in Nigeria NEVER slip out of the hands of them and their Southern allies. In Yeshua's Name, I pray.

@francisosifo @bosuntijani And some nitwits are asking if other countries have the same facilities there
English

@bosuntijani Truly amazing development, on my last trip to SF I thought about how we can have something like this in place as I saw what other countries have done to make it easier for their startups to unlock the vast amount of resources and opportunities in San Francisco. 👏👏👏
English

Another development from FEC today, which sits firmly in our desire as a Ministry to position Nigeria as a significant player in the global technology landscape, is the approval for the conversion of an existing property of the Federal Government in San Francisco, USA to a Nigerian Digital Technology Exchange Programme Hub (Nigeria Startup House).
As we work towards achieving key elements of our Trade and IEC Strategic Blueprint Pillars, the Nigerian Startup House will play a critical role in promoting Nigeria’s economic interest, attracting Foreign Direct Investment and improving the visibility and positioning of Nigeria’s Startup Ecosystem to attract funding and expertise from global markets and organisations represented in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
The San Francisco Bay Area, and nearby Silicon Valley, is recognised globally as a major source of startup ecosystem funding, with a combined GDP value of just over $929 billion and is home to over 200 of the largest companies in the world by revenue. In addition, most of the $1.3 billion funding sourced by Nigerian technology startups in 2023 alone came from Venture Capital funds in the Bay Area.
While the ownership of the Nigeria Startup House will remain with the Federal Government, represented by the @FMCIDENigeria and @NigeriaMFA, it will be managed by a consortium of Nigerian digital technology companies who will provide non-public funding for the operations of the Startup House. #NigerianExcellence

Gbajue on Steroids: Landmark and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project.
One thing we can learn from the ongoing dispute between Landmark Africa, owned by Paul Onwuanibe, and the Federal Government of Nigeria over the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project is how some people and organisations understand the average Southern Nigerian person's love for bad news, and how they weaponise it, by using it to manipulate Nigerians.
On April 30, 2024, Landmark released a post on X claiming, "What we built in 6 years was destroyed in 6 hours."
The post showed before and after photos that gave the impression that Landmark had been completely destroyed and the company was in ruins.
Trust Nigerians, especially Southerners, and our penchant for negativity. The post went internationally viral, and almost 5 million people viewed it, with most insulting the President and some heaping curses on the Works Minister, Dave Umahi.
One fellow, @greatdarl on X, said, "Man it’s so scary to build anything in naija esp Lagos and they claim nothing would happen to number of lives employed and impacted by this resort."
Someone else, @Dycocoo, said, "My heart goes out to all the staffs that will be unemployed now".
Another famous person, Maryanne Moghalu, said, "Invest in Lagos at your own peril."
And we all sang a requiem for Landmark and went to bed.
But then a week later, on May 6, 2024, Landmark resurrected on X, posting that' "Landmark Lagos is Open for Business!"
Apparently, it was not true that Landmark's business had been destroyed. Only a small portion of temporary structures, which had encroached on the beach, which by law cannot belong to an individual or corporation, was demolished.
The demolished portion comprised less than 3% of their business, and the Landmark corporation was and is still thriving.
But here is the thing. While their post distorting the truth and de-marketing Lagos had 4.6 million views, this new and truthful one only garnered a million views.
Landmark pushed a false narrative, with the help of heavyweights, such as Peter Obi and the Moghalus, that the Tinubu administration had destroyed their business, because of their ethnicity, and their staff had all lost their jobs while they lost the shirts on their backs. But it was a lie. Their business was still very much open and thriving. There had been no employee mass firings.
It was just a manipulative publicity stunt to turn the public against the government and pressure them to allow a structure that had no standing in law to continue existing.
The first post had gone viral and was featured on many international fora, denting Nigeria's image.
After leading the world to believe that "What we built in 6 years was destroyed in 6 hours" and that they lost '$200 million worth of investment', the truth is that Landmark came out virtually unscathed by this exercise.
But the world would not hear that story. Only the lie. And stations like Arise TV, who were willing participants in perpetuating this lie, will move to the next lie, without skipping a beat.
Let me assure you that Landmark has no intention of leaving Lagos. Because, if they do, they will lose money, while Lagos will lose NOTHING! It is in their interest to remain in Lagos.
And even their second post was not done to correct the damage they did. It was actually motivated by greed. You see, Landmark had to clear the air because many people who used to book them for their events were moving elsewhere, since 'What we built in 6 years was destroyed in 6 hours'. And when they noticed that, they had to clear the air for their own selfish benefit.
You see? It is so much easisr to destroy than to build.

The PM notes that the recent announcements outlining councilor nominations in the state's 326 wards aren't a call for a proper election, but rather a veiled attempt by the APGA govt led by Gov. Soludo to appoint party loyalists without public endorsement
English

@cornerspay @masuzafi Let the energy be made available and each household properly metered, Nigerians will adjust to the new reality. I believe also the price may come down after some reactions and reviews
English

@masuzafi The new rate is not so much of a problem to an average Nigerian if they would even make pre paid meter available to everybody including people in the rural communities because most Nigerians are very poor and do not even have appliances that consume much electricity.
English

Most people don't know how much energy is 1 kw.
Okay let's do this maths using a 1 hp AC .
Your 1 hp AC is equivalent to 745w = 0.7456 kw
1. For one hour of your AC you spend 0.7456 x N225 =
190.00 approx
2. For five hours you spend 3.725 X N225 = 949.50
3. For 12 hours of 1hp AC you spend 8.94 x N225 = N2279.7
In a nut shell if you are using a 1-hp AC at between 18 to 25 degrees for 5 hours everyday .. you are likely to spend 30,000 monthly on the new rate ..
So if Two of that same AC running for 5 hours each na 60k.
But it also depends how cold or hot the weather is because air conditioners have a thermostat which interrupts consumption when not cooling.
The higher the temperature settings of the AC you set the temperature the less kilowatts used to cool. (ie 21 degree upward)
That being said,
This calculation was tested on a verified brand of 1-hp AC from likes of LG, Midea ,Samsung.
**Hisense, esp ratings are not usually correct - and will draw you more than a kilowatt per hour even if it is rated as 1 hp inverter Ac.
The bottom line is this,
if you don't have heavy domestic equipment like AC, electric cooker, pressing iron, 65 inch TV or water heater - this new bill is way cheaper than the flat rate those NEPA criminals have been collecting from you for the past 3 years.
Because your regular table fan only consumes about 17w per hour (0.0017kilowatt) at lower speeds and 42.5watt (0.0425 kilowatt) at high speed.
You have to leave that FAN on and running for 58 hours before it consumes N225.
Mind you DC fans even consume way much less.
🙏🙏🙏🙏

English

@D_lone_wolf_ @masuzafi It is this your saico mentality of a revolution that has brought some much waste. That's how someone will use 100wats bulb instead of 5watts on, fridge and even fan, etc, and go to work, therefore stressing transformers for nothing
English

@masuzafi @Jagaban70 He just wanted to appear like a Chike Obi
English

where did my calculation give an example of 20 hours ..
I clearly stated
1. 1 hours
2. 5 hours
3. 12 hours.
must you show off that you know nonsense because you want to prove a point . 😂😂😂😂😂
We are really in trouble in this country.
I set my own exam , my own answers.
you come carry your won question , set your own answer say my exam wey i set no correct ..
o jẹ aṣiwere pupọ !!!, kunlẹ nibẹ
maṣe gbe ọwọ rẹ soke titi emi o fi sọ bẹ
English

@ossywhyte @masuzafi It's your altitude that may be a problem if properly analyzed.
English

@masuzafi What analysis and justification are you passing across? How is the new bill a good thing compared to the flat rate? Are we meant to be comparing and choosing lesser evil? This is the same attitude that has kept us where we are today
English

@AsidoEffa @masuzafi Yes, when people are meant to pay for what they consume, they begin to wear a sense of responsibility, avoid waste, and always focus on maximizing profit even as end users
English

@masuzafi This is very funny ! Nigeria is the only country where we keeping hearing how many megawatts of electricity is being produced and consumed. Now you have taken it to another level. We are now measuring how many watts or kw fridge, fan and AC consume. This must be progress 😂

Progressives Media retuiteado

Soludo Is Yet to Justify Huge FAAC Allocations; Wage Award to Civil Servants is A Must!
The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, as part of activities to mark his two years in office, appeared on a Channels TV programme, Politics Today with Seun, where he answered questions about his stewardship in Anambra State within the time frame.
The Progressives Media, having monitored the half-hour programme, is constrained to respond to many of the fallacious assertions from Mr Governor.
First, we take exception to his many false allusions to the huge FAAC receipt received by the state since June last year when the naira was floated the Naira. Failing to justify his poor performance despite huge resources, the governor sought to blame inflation for his poor performance even when evidence did not support such claims.
When prodded by Seun on what he has been able to achieve with the increased FAAC revenues that have doubled in recent months, Mr Governor sought to dribble his way using jaundiced economic terms carefully created to confuse
While we acknowledge the effect of inflation on the purchasing power of the naira, we maintain that a FAAC jump from a monthly allocation of N4 billion in March 2022 when Soludo came into the office to N10 billion as of February 2024 represents a leap even when adjusted for annual inflation within the two years.
Calculating the impact of inflation on revenue is not so complex. Assuming an inflation rate of 30%, the N10b accruing to Anambra state would amount to about N7b in the real term. This still amounts to a 75% increase on the previous receipt.
Curiously, Mr. Governor forgot to account for the local government funds, which he has continued to spend without appropriation and accountability.
We strongly disagree with Mr. Governor's statement and his attempt to use ambiguous data to deny the increased value of the FAAC revenue accruing to the state. For the avoidance of doubt, the FAAC revenue under the watch of Mr Governor has increased by 75% in real terms and not less than 20% as he wants us to believe.
Having established this, we are compelled to demand that the governor immediately begin to pay the wage award of N30,000 to civil servants in the states as agreed between the Labour Unions and the government. It is necessary to reiterate that the Government of Gov. Soludo, despite receiving an increased FAAC receipt amounting to 75% in real terms, has yet to create any form of coverage for poor Ndi Anambra who are being crushed by the hyperinflation.
Despite the allocations of funds for CNG buses to the states by the FG to reduce the cost of transportation, Anambra has yet to purchase any or offer any alternatives to suffering Ndi Anambra.
While the governor continues to boast of presiding over the most austerity government ever, we would wish to remind him that he is not yet accountable to Ndi Anambra and can't be a judge in his case. Until he renders the account of the LGA funds and that of FAAC, we seek that he quits the deliberate self-glorification of running an austerity government.

@GabrielNaija @FinPlanKaluAja1 and you believe that this is not a part in tackling the rot in the FX market/system?
English

The CBN governor is trying so hard to put a lid on a volcano from erupting. I wish him luck. As long as the govt keeps shying away from taking the long term yielding hard decisions of tackling corruption and insecurity, this inflation beast will surely erupt and with a vengeance. The N1,900 we saw last will be child’s play.
English

@Mayokun @FinPlanKaluAja1 You are right here. There is no straight jacket approach to the issue
English

@FinPlanKaluAja1 CBN is dynamic, they have to keep revising their policies from time to time, until they have a perfect grip on the effectiveness of the monetary policies in the midst of a very complex disingenuous cartel of corruption capable of morphing at every turn to circumvent the system.
English

Not sure why the CBN should be funding BDCs
BDC should be marketing to diaspora and tourist etc to get $.
Also why does a BDC need N2b capital? What is the reserve for? When I travel I convert at the airport and hotel and those small gift shops
So why can't all hotels, gas stations, fast food establishments clubs churches have BDC license? That's where the diaspora go, they can collect FX, issue change in Naira and sell that FX to BDC
Expand the net, revision your approach
