Thank you to all the patients and families involved in this pivotal study which proves the real time, real world evidence for the benefit of whole genome sequence in childhood cancer.

'Whole genome sequencing is special because we can look at the entire genome instead of parts of a genome.' Genome expert @AngusHodder says 'if we know a child has a less risky form of cancer, we can give them less intensive treatment' #SJUK trib.al/1DqoA75 📺 Sky 501

Heard of whole genome sequencing? Thanks to a national initiative, it's available to all children diagnosed with cancer in England. Our latest study shows that it can guide on treatment plans for children and reduce the number of tests they need. gosh.nhs.uk/news/world-fir…

New research via @NHSgms showing WGS can improve the care of children with cancer. A great example of using innovative technology to inform individualised care, and of what we can achieve together for patients with WGS as a part of public healthcare nature.com/articles/s4159…

CONGRESS #EHA2024 | Sujith Samarasinghe @GreatOrmondSt shares initial findings from the phase II ALLTogether1 DS trial evaluating blinatumomab as chemotherapy-replacement for children and young adults with Down Syndrome B-cell ALL (N=33). The primary endpoint was met, with 91% patients being MRD undetectable at the end of cycle 1. Grade 3/4 toxicity events were significantly lower compared to UKALL 2011 trial. No deaths, relapse, or secondary cancer were reported, however, a higher rate of seizures was observed. #ALLsm #leusm #MedicalCongress

Anindita Roy will integrate datasets on infant acute lymphoblastic #leukaemia patients to provide insights into the biological differences and clinical outcomes, leading to better biomarkers and a #PersonalisedMedicine approach. Following parent feedback, a portal will be built for parents to input their experiences of treatment. Jointly funded with @GOSHCharity @andiroy | @DrJackBartram | @OxPaediatrics | #CRUKFunded [2/9]

Great to see a kinder, less toxic treatment option available for some children with B-ALL. Blinatumomab has less side effects than standard chemotherapy and is fully portable, meaning it can be given on the go and patients spend less time in hospital. 👏 bbc.co.uk/news/health-67…
