🇨🇳 In China, a popular Border Collie named Chutou with 1.5 million subscribers was stolen from a farm, sold to a dog meat restaurant for €23, slaughtered, and eaten the same day.
The dog had traveled across the country for 8 years with his owner, travel blogger Guo. The theft was captured on surveillance while Guo was abroad.
By the time Guo cut his trip short, tracked down the suspects, and offered a 10,000 yuan reward, Chutou had already been slaughtered and consumed at a local restaurant.
When Guo attempted to retrieve his pet's remains, a restaurant worker informed him that they had already discarded the remains.

When Guo tracked down the man responsible, he was told: "The dog is dead, so stop making a fuss. I did not break the law."
The butcher who slaughtered him said the fur "was thrown in the rubbish long ago."
China has no national companion-animal protection law. Around 10 million dogs are killed for consumption there every year.

The dog's owner, a Chinese travel blogger named 'Guo,' documents his travels with his dog.
While he was away on an overseas trip, the dog disappeared while in the care of Guo's dad. Surveillance footage showed two people stealing the animal.
Guo was able to track down the thief and offered $1500 for the return of his dog, but was told the dog had been sold for $27 and eaten.
The thief says he thought the dog was a stray.
"The dog is dead, so stop making a fuss. I did not break the law," the man allegedly said.
