They are signing him just because Barcelona wanted him. They rushed to sign Dumfries on a desperate 4-year deal for a 30-year-old player, just to make sure he doesn't end up at Barcelona. The same way they want to sign Gvardiol after learning that Flick's preferred option is Gvardiol and not Bastoni or Schlotterbeck. They submitted a €150m bid for Alvarez and publicly announced it (when do clubs start doing that?) just because they don't want him to end up at Barcelona and make the deal complicated. Now they are pushing to sign Marc Cucurella just because Barcelona also wanted him. This is how they signed Arda Güler and most of their legends. This is not normal; it is an acute obsession. Always wanting to block Barcelona by all possible means. A supposed 'biggest club' doesn't have a project other than blocking its rival. This is an example of the theory of people who have forgotten themselves
