Come August, my little munchkin is off to school (cue the happy dance + ugly cry!). So, if any of you fabulous humans need comms support, let's chat. If we've recently connected, let me intro myself:  I'm Bridgette👋, a former TV reporter turned global/nat'l PR consultant 🧵

@allisonbraley @bayareawriter Ha! Say less, @allisonbraley 😂🙌 Wise words from you, Mary Ann 🙏 For those of us in #PR who are former journalists or have been doing this awhile - we're PREACHING this to founders/execs on the backend but are often met with resistence/pushback for a # of reasons.

I get so many pitches for news that is embargoed for one to three days from when an email is sent. Most of the time, that's simply not enough time for me to set up and conduct interviews and then write a thoughtful story. The more advanced notice you give reporters, the better your chances of coverage. It's very straightforward.

Legacy DLR approaches either (A) rely on hardware, which is expensive and slow, or (B) use weather models that do not have the required resolution and are not safe for use in line ratings - and engineers know it. Gridraven has fixed it. Our AI wind prediction is accurate exactly where power lines are. It's already being switched on across all of Finland in the world's largest application of DLR. Up to a third more grid capacity is available right away, to support load growth and reduce prices. It's a no-brainer. Thank you @politicalham for a very professional and smooth recording experience. Great questions and pacing! youtube.com/watch?app=desk…

Exclusive: In a "brutal" fundraising environment, emerging manager face an uphill battle. For Amanda Robson, known as Robby, the answer was two-fold: the power of community 🤝 and a relentlessly high-energy approach ⚡️ Now she's raised a $22M debut fund for her VC firm MTF.

@SkyeSherman There's no excuse for that. Surprised they still have a job. If any of these "establishments" start shopping around - tell 'em you know a damn good publicist who will hustle for them 😉

@BridgetteBorst Worse—missing emails, holding up stories, not supplying photos, incomplete emails, only sending things after they’ve been requested several times, making me chase/repeatedly follow up, being generally lazy or lackadaisical, etc! 😂

After 4+ years and over 1K stories, today is my last day as a staff writer at TechCrunch. I am so grateful for this experience. Working with amazingly smart, kind and funny people who I learned from on an almost daily basis has been a true privilege. The culture at TC is incredibly unique and very special. However, I've reached a point where I need to take a brief break from working full time. TC will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks to all who have read and shared my articles, and listened to our podcasts, over the years.

historically risk averse utilities are starting to turn to tools like AI-based platforms that can give insight into climate-related risks to utility infrastructure. rhizome just raised $6.5 million to further build out its grid analysis platform heatmap.news/sparks/rhizome…

For our first @UpstartsMediaCo newsletter, I dug into Granola, the AI meeting notes app that's become a favorite tool of VCs and founders, growing 10% weekly. CEO Chris Pedregal spoke to me about his plans for a "tool for thought" and the crowded AI note-taking startup field.

Kinda funny how they landed on the line that cutting greenhouse gas emissions is good without mentioning climate change.

Eliminating NOAA climate and weather research labs could seriously erode US forecast accuracy, in addition to cutting off the US' ability to monitor/research climate change. Labs like AOML, for ex., have direct forecast applications. axios.com/pro/energy-pol…

The Texas grid is facing something we’ve never seen before: ERCOT projects a 50% increase in demand by 2029. That’s a jump from 85 GW in 2023 to 129 GW in just four years. What’s driving it? 1/🧵
