The fact that some 35% of US adults and nearly the entirety of the Republican Party continue to fanatically support this very visibly insane man that is somehow getting worse by the day is simply unforgivable. What the actual fuck is wrong with all of you?

$1.5 BILLION. Let me say it again - a $1.5 BILLION BET. Bigger than any futures purchases made at the time. 5 minutes before Trump's post. Who was it? Trump? A family member? A White House staffer? This is corruption. Mind blowing corruption.
unusual_whales@unusual_whales

BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market. In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

@adamscochran These loadups have happened several times this year: Venezuela pivot in Feb, SC "leak", Tehran strike "prediction", tariff announcements, and now this. Nobody does shit, either. Shithole banana republic lead by a con-artist with no adults in the room or in Congress to stop it.

5 minutes before Trump’s announcement: * $1.5B notional worth of S&P500 (ES) futures are bought in a single clip. * $192M notional of oil futures (CL) sold. More than 4x-6x any other trade size during the market close. Insiders profited from his lies in broad daylight!

@HBendaas The $100m is just for United Democracy Project (their Super PAC) to run ads against non pro-Israel candidates. There's $100m more on salaries for lobbyists who meet w/ staffers daily, dark money flows, & local junkets for freshmen reps. Sam is a dumb guy's version of a smart guy.

@tronbunny @lookner That's not how this works. Oil is traded on a global market, worldwide supply and demand determine costs. The 20% global supply at stake from the Strait amplifies price volatility far beyond direct U.S. imports bc markets react to scarcity

@lookner Iran must think we depend on Gulf Oil. Fact is we do not and only %20 of the worlds oil is shipped through the Strait of Hormuz. This would not hurt the US. They're not very bright are they?

@mtracey It might also have something to do with fact that controlling the region has been a major national interest since end of WW2. Iran has nothing but plagued that effort. Trump’s the only president will to put his foot down heavy to maintain US control.

A lot of this probably just comes down to Trump thinking Iran was trying to assassinate him, so he decided to "destroy" the entire country, full of "deranged scumbags." Then let everybody quibble over whether "destroying the regime" constitutes "regime change." What does he care?

@StaniKulechov What kind of illiquid, back-alley garbage are you people trading where a single swap triggers $50 million in slippage? The fact that an interface even allowed a 99% slippage trade to execute, checkbox or not, is insane

Earlier today, a user attempted to buy AAVE using $50M USDT through the Aave interface. Given the unusually large size of the single order, the Aave interface, like most trading interfaces, warned the user about extraordinary slippage and required confirmation via a checkbox. The user confirmed the warning on their mobile device and proceeded with the swap, accepting the high slippage, which ultimately resulted in receiving only 324 AAVE in return. The transaction could not be moved forward without the user explicitly accepting the risk through the confirmation checkbox. The CoW Swap routers functioned as intended, and the integration followed standard industry practices. However, while the user was able to proceed with the swap, the final outcome was clearly far from optimal. Events like this do occur in DeFi, but the scale of this transaction was significantly larger than what is typically seen in the space. We sympathize with the user and will try to make a contact with the user and we will return $600K in fees collected from the transaction. The key takeaway is that while DeFi should remain open and permissionless, allowing users to perform transactions freely, there are additional guardrails the industry can build to better protect users. Our team will be investigating ways to improve these safeguards going forward.

@Paradox123 @kimmonismus I don't think I've ever read anything from Amodei that would suggest he wants to infuse moral thinking in autonomous weaponry. So not sure what you mean by "You are asking a war machine to think". Who is "you" there?

@BuzzatiAgain @kimmonismus It’s not a good argument because you are asking a war machine to think. If it’s starts thinking it’s starts worrying about it’s own life

Dario Amodei's argument is that soldiers can follow their own moral standards and refuse to serve, but AI cannot. A strange argument when you look at how wars are fought in the world.
