Unfortunately it is. It’s pretty pricy. I wouldn’t say it’s essential for everyone. It really depends on what you’re trying to do. If you’re doing a lot of fire and forget coding and you just want it to do the grunt work or debug issues it’s great. If you’re wanting an AI coding assistant I would stick with Cursor at $20pm. I’m building products with it so it’s invaluable. But I wouldn’t use it as a pair programmer of that makes sense.

Pulled the trigger and taken out a Claude Code Max subscription £90 is a lot of money so I’m hoping it pays off! Will report back.

The problem with giving AIs a default personal system prompt is that you have no idea how that prompt interacts with various AI tasks. Our research shows that even small prompt changes (like saying "please") can backfire on some problems and lower accuracy in unexpected ways.
