🚨‼️ Microsoft has suspended the developer accounts of WireGuard and VeraCrypt, making it impossible for them to push updates in case of critical vulnerabilities. WireGuard is used by hundreds of millions of users — directly and indirectly via VPN apps like NordVPN and others. WireGuard dev: "What if there were some critical RCE in WireGuard (...) exploited in the wild, and I needed to update users immediately? (...) In that case, Microsoft would have my hands entirely tied."

Maybe so, I think there’s a perception that works made in the early 2000’s or late 90’s as worse then current and based on technology I wouldn’t disagree to that. Though story telling hasn’t changed between the time. It could be advancing viewer tastes yes, I think atleast in my immediate group it’s art style and animation more

@CQCap Could advancing viewer tastes be the main reason for doubt toward older anime series in friend recommendations?

@CQCap @nikutaberuru With the sauce A veritable masterpiece. Few works of art capture the range and depth of the human emotion and experience like this one. Hang it in the Louve

If AI can provide real time or near real time translation to the user in any language then you would then be operating under a unified language but instead of it being “English” it would be under AI which would present the same benefits of people speaking the actual same language. Of course this would mean at any given moment communication would have to be translated real time even in person meaning people are always connected. Seeing English and Japanese interactions on X is a similar situation and example of this happening.

Random thought: If the world reconverted in a single dominant language(English?) do we increase the chance of getting a second of Babel style consequences (re: Tower of Babel story)? Could internet and AI be the new Babel?

@loomdart Yeah. The only true way out is to completely stop using SM afaik. Can only imagine the repercussions if the friction to open an app gets removed

Once you scale out to how many people are actually impacted by this stuff, hard to say infinite scroll has any competitors for being the single most detrimental invention ever

@nikutaberuru A favorite? That’s tough there are many good options. Chainsaw man was really good, psycho pass, FMA, Naruto, Kill La Kill, Vinland Saga I’m terrible at picking a favorite
