One of my founders @CSarabalis sent this to me
One of their engineers was doing lithography and the residue left this pattern
This actually happened
Divine intervention
Immaculate conception
Hardware is hard 🤣

@sdamico probably a dumb approach would be to to etch the fiber down in HF and wind it tight around a spool. activating a few more brain cells, I bet you could etch nano grass into the cladding.
if this post gets 10 billion likes, I'll do it.
English

@sdamico you don't have to coat the fiber. you can drop the high power signal from the cladding before the transceiver.
English

Thought about this some more: there’s a significant chance that this is THE achilles’ heel of fiber optic drones.

Very interesting footage from Russians indicating that Ukrainian Forces use laser light beam to fry fiber optic on "waiter" drones. Quite unexpected turn of the warfare, take notes.
English

@sdamico why? any reason a SM system with good spatial filtering can't eliminate side channels?

@jonwerthen Well what do you think 'creative destruction' means? It means we want to keep producing so we need to also destroy. You are just not able to think outside the BS they taught you.

@TimMLatimer @Gerardeaus2 the prototype kg is dead. long live the watt balance.
English

@Gerardeaus2 It’s easier to check because I can always just go down to the local zoo to calibrate the elephant weight. Much easier than having to travel to Paris everytime to use the kilogram standard.

One of the most common discussion topics in energy these days is the shortage of transformers, and why manufacturing capacity isn’t scaling to meet the moment.
Great article today on why exactly that is so hard to do. wsj.com/business/the-f…

Laser cut 3M VHB 5952 foam adhesive is now available at SendCutSend. It’s my favorite way to stick stuff together.
“3M VHB 5952 is a closed-cell acrylic foam adhesive that bonds metal, glass, painted surfaces, and plastics with durable, weather-resistant performance. Unlike mechanical fasteners or liquid adhesives, VHB creates a clean, uniform bond line that absorbs vibration and distributes stress evenly. It’s frequently used in automotive and industrial assemblies where a long-term, clean bond is needed without drilling or clamping.”
