The FTC’s all‑in pricing rule was supposed to end hidden fees. But Ticketmaster found a workaround: drop the “processing fee,” raise a “service” or “facility” fee instead. Same cost. New label. Zero transparency.

A Colorado class-action suit claims that Epic & Ikon’s pricing models give two companies outsized control over access to major ski mountains. It’s a familiar pattern across live events: when a few companies control access, consumers lose options, and affordability suffers.

A jury will now decide whether Live Nation’s conduct was illegal + whether it should keep owning Ticketmaster. Fans deserve real competition and real accountability.

36 states + D.C. are moving ahead with the antitrust trial against Live Nation/Ticketmaster — even after the DOJ settled. States say the deal doesn’t fix Live Nation’s dominance over promotion, venues, and ticketing, ultimately keeping monopoly power intact.

Ontario is the latest to consider ticket price caps, but many doubt they can be enforced or deliver real affordability. As Brian Berry of @TicketPolicy notes, “Without a way to know the original price of every ticket… resale marketplaces wouldn’t be able to impose a cap.”

The latest disclosures make it clear: the ticketing system isn’t “broken” —it’s working exactly as Live Nation/Ticketmaster designed it. Staff joking about “gouging” fans + “robbing them blind” exposes a culture built to extract every dollar from fans who just want to see a show

With a new MLB season underway, fans are ready to return to the ballpark. But that experience works best when tickets can move as freely as fans’ plans do. Fair, flexible transferability helps families share seats, pass along tickets they can’t use + find affordable options ⚾️

Let’s be clear: price caps are designed to weaken the only segment outside Live Nation/Ticketmaster’s control: safe, regulated resale that gives fans choice. Real affordability comes from competition, transparency, and strong consumer protections.

Resale penalties don’t protect fans; they limit choice and access. A fair ticket market needs transparency, flexibility, and real competition so fans can use the tickets they already paid for. Support the people who fill the seats, don’t restrict them.

Season ticket holders are the backbone of a team’s fandom. They show up, invest early + keep stadiums loud. That’s why the Packers warning that fans could lose renewal rights for reselling “too often” feels off. Life happens; fans shouldn’t be punished for not making every game.
