We’re saddened to share that Donald Rose, the UK’s oldest WWII veteran, has passed away at 110. A sniper with the Queen’s Royal Regiment, he served in North Africa, survived D-Day, and helped liberate Bergen-Belsen. His legacy and sacrifice will not be forgotten ❤️

🌳🐕‍🦺 In a UK-first, we've partnered with Luke Jones at the @CapeSpc team, to train an extraordinary detection dog, Ivor, to sniff out the destructive tree pathogen Phytophthora ramorum. 🧪 During trials, six-year-old Ivor (a cocker spaniel x labrador) achieved an impressive 89% detection rate on first attempts—proving the immense potential of detection dogs in safeguarding our woodlands. 🗨️ Dr. Heather Dun, Pathologist at Forest Research shared: "The results have been incredibly encouraging. Detection dogs like Ivor represent an exciting new tool in the fight against pests and diseases, helping to protect our nation’s trees through enhanced biosecurity." This pathogen poses a serious threat, causing significant damage to over 150 plant species, including larch—one of our vital timber trees. Thanks to Ivor, we're one step closer to a healthier, more resilient future for our forests. 🌱🐾 👉 Learn more about this ground-breaking work: ow.ly/JxE750UiO1A @DefraGovUK @ForestryComm @ForestryEngland @scotforestry @ForestryLS #DetectionDogs #TreeHealth #Biosecurity #ForestResearch

Dog detectives Milo and Kilo are 'taking the lead' in helping us detect water leaks in some of our more remote water mains across Scotland. Their detection rate is second to none when sniffing out chlorine in muddy fields.🐶 More 👉 bit.ly/4aAU60h @CapeSpc @DogsTrust
