This afternoon, I visited the Thornton Middle School Thundercats, and I was energized by the creativity and engagement happening in every corner of the campus! From a breakout box ELA lesson in the library to the broadcast classroom producing and editing music videos, students were immersed in hands-on, innovative learning. @AfricanArchives Have you heard of the @SL95_FBISD The abandoned burial site of 95 African American victims of convict leasing found in Fort Bend, TX in 2018 and the community is working tirelessly to preserve the site and educate others. fortbendisd.com/sugarland95 @thesugarland95 @ronereynolds

This is 25 years after the "end" of slavery. These Black boys are all in a forced labor camp, working for free, often for 6 days a week. Many were arrested and convicted for ‘loitering’ & ‘vagrancy’ or ‘speaking loudly to a white woman’

Fort Bend ISD’s Supt. hastily retired today. In a heated meeting, the board argued over allegations that she was unfairly pressured by several trustees to step down. houstonlanding.org/fort-bend-isd-…
