Senior Judge Hilder determines that a Lasting Power of Attorney was invalid as the donor’s signature was witnessed by the attorney. A practical and helpful reminder of the need for independence when witnessing the donor’s signature. bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCOP…

Will be keeping an eye out for developments in this interesting case about when welfare deputies should be appointed.

Hearing today before the Vice President of the Court of Protection in this case, seeking to clarify the law on parent/families being appointed as welfare deputies. Case will be listed for a final hearing to determine the issue sometime in early 2019.
