Little-known fact: NYS has about 10,000 state & local public employees who make >$250,000/year. A growing share are Tier 6, meaning they contribute to their pension (unlike Tier 4 folks). They want to "Fix Tier 6" because they would immediately pocket $7,500/year! #progressive

Tax offshore accounts from individuals making millions in NYS while those working with the future generation try and decide whether they pay bills, buy gas or afford groceries. NYS government got themselves into this mess and can get out of it.

@PolicyEngineer Imagine having two masters degrees and getting paid 40k a year and 100k in student loans. Seriously? The reward for a lifetime in public service is a comfortable living in retirement with a sound pension. We pay our dues. Do you pay yours?

Imagine an employer putting 28% of your pay in a 401K. The "healthy" NYC teacher pension fund is "healthy" if you ignore their high return assumptions, and because NYC had to pay the equivalent of more than 28 percent of payroll into the "healthy" pension fund last year.

Employers don't need to offset any changes in contribution rates because the pension funds are healthy and going to be bloated he said.

@KeshiaClukey You people live under rocks. Come visit a public school. Go look at dwindling teacher prep programs. Truth be told, NYS public schools can’t afford to pay teachers for a 40 year career! They need to allow them to retire under one of the top pensions in the US and spend in NYS!

Cold calling people to head hunt for positions was once reserved for the elite and management. Now, because of a flawed retirement tier system in NYS, TEACHERS are being cold called and offered positions to switch districts. The shortage is real 🚌✍️@nysut @GovKathyHochul @WGRZ
