NYC is spending too much for too little. Small schools (under 400 kids) cost $18,294/student vs. $11,284 at full-size ones. 380 buildings are under 60% capacity. Enrollment's down 17%, but budgets haven't followed. @cbcny says funding based on actual enrollment saves $400M/year.

We dug into the data and modeled five different scenarios on how AI will impact NYC’s economy. No matter which path you look at, the takeaway is the same: NYC should be building up its rainy day fund now to prepare for a potential economic downturn or job losses.
