@ComEd I think the most frustrating aspect of a power outage is the uncertainty. Are we going to be out for 2 hours or two days?

@ComEd I reported this transformer blowing 3 days ago, and nobody did anything about it. Now the thing caught on fire around midnight, and the Harvey, IL fire department came out & reported it to you all last night, and STILL no one showed up. Now it blew again a few mins ago!

@Felkuro1 We’re truly sorry you’ve been without power for this long. Being out for multiple days is frustrating. Crews are still working in the remaining hardest hit areas where damage requires more complex repairs, and we’re continuing until every customer is restored.

Tonight, ComEd’s VP of Distribution Operations, Jeremy Smith, shared a message for customers still without power—recognizing the frustration and exhaustion many are feeling. This storm caused some of the most severe damage we’ve seen since the 2020 Derecho. Crews are working through downed trees, blocked roads, and thousands of broken poles that must be rebuilt before power can be safely restored. So far, 97% of customers have been restored, with more than 3,000 crew members working through the night. If you’re still without power, please know: you haven’t been forgotten. Crews are working their way to you and won’t stop until everyone is restored. Thank you for your patience. For updates, visit ComEd.com/OutageTracker.

Please know your location has not been overlooked. Crews are continuing work in the remaining hardest hit areas, where damage has required longer, more complex repairs. That doesn’t make what you’re experiencing any easier, and we recognize the toll this has taken. Our team is working to restore your service as quickly and safely as possible.

HI Yuri, we’re truly sorry for the ongoing delays and understand how frustrating this experience has been. Estimated restoration times can change as crews assess damage and uncover additional issues that must be addressed to safely restore power. We know how difficult it is when timelines shift, and we appreciate your patience as our teams work to get everyone back up and running as quickly and safely as possible.

Crews continue working in the hardest-hit areas where damage requires more complex and time-intensive repairs. More than 3,000 ComEd employees and 2,200 contractors are in the field, supported by an additional 400 mutual assistance personnel, all working to restore service as safely and efficiently as possible. Here’s the latest updates: ⚡As of now, power has been restored to approximately 623,779 customers—about 90% of those impacted by Wednesday and Thursday’s storms. ⚡Customer Care Vans are being deployed in Streator, Hickory Hills and Chicago's South Side, including the Stony Island and Gresham neighborhoods to provide on-site support and resources for customers. ⚡Forecasts for northern Illinois indicate a chance of isolated storms late Saturday into early Sunday, and we are actively monitoring conditions and preparing for potential impacts. Unfortunately, damages resulting from events, like weather, that are out of our control generally will not be reimbursed, except possibly under specific circumstances discussed on our claim form. You can download a claim form here: ComEd.com/Claims. Once the completed form is received, your claim will be registered and referred to a Case Manager, who will contact you at your daytime telephone number, via email or mail.

I keep checking my @ComEd account in paranoia. It says power is back on, but I evacuated to my parents home in Virginia, and when I return tomorrow I am paranoid it will actually still be off. Also comed, will there be any breaks for spoiled food/no service for 96 hours?

@ComEd My power is still out, despite being told it would be restored by 6 PM today. It’s now well past that time, and my family has been without power for an extended period. Could I please DM you with more details so someone can look into this?

@TweetSyxx Estimated time of restoration can change based on what crews discover onsite. Certain repairs may take longer than expected due to the level of damage caused by the storm. Sign up for outage text alerts for updates regarding your outage at: ComEd.com/Text

@Juliana_CHGO @ComEd I am in the "dark" area in your screenshot and I'm still out - latest ETA is 10PM tomorrow, but they push it back every few hours. My aunt lives in the "light green area" in your screenshot and her entire block has also been without power this whole time, so I don't trust it.

We understand why this feels unfair—especially when you’ve been without power. Crews prioritize repairs that restore power to the greatest number of customers and to critical services like hospitals, fire departments, and senior centers. From there, we focus on medically urgent situations before moving to individual streets or homes, which can require more complex repairs and take longer. We’re truly sorry you’re still waiting and know how frustrating this has been. Please know your area remains on our restoration list and crews are continuing work until service is fully restored.
