@McFranchisee Mac minis are great platforms. I know McDonalds doesn’t have the software, but it might be worth McDonalds HQ building some prototypes and then inviting their Microsoft rep in for a tour.

This whole Windows ESU license update is an absolute disaster.
Every single device running Windows 10 now needs a new $200 license from headset systems to kiosks.
All the vendors you bought this equipment from are not equipped to track you down later and ensure compliance.
Every week I get an urgent 11th hour email giving me 24 hours to provide a vendor information I don’t readily have, or else I risk going dark.
As if restaurants weren’t already difficult to operate, this just adds more headaches. Anyone else fighting the same fight?

@SawyerMerritt @wholemars If the jurors and judge are so good at picking “correct” company valuations, they should run a hedge fund

Everyone with a brain, including Elon himself, agrees that $44B was overpaying for Twitter. In retrospect, it was worth way less.
This will no doubt head to appeal.

Elon Musk defrauded Twitter investors when he disparaged the company in 2022 in an effort to buy the social media platform for a lower price than his original $44 billion bid, a jury concluded bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Please explain how I can know they are unarmed.
Please explain how me & my wife, both 70yo can survive if a young, strong “unarmed” intruder assaults us.

@CBSNews It’s the Schrödinger valuation: simultaneously too big and too small

A jury has found Elon Musk liable for misleading investors by deliberately driving down Twitter's stock price in the tumultuous months leading up to his 2022 acquisition of the social media company for $44 billion. cbsn.ws/3PejaEO

In 2007, when Chuck Norris visited Marines in Western Iraq, he demanded to get away from large bases and instead visit the small FOBs and COPs. MNF-W said it would be too dangerous, but Norris insisted and in the end, got his way.
I'm forever grateful for the example he set, and this awesome choke hold.

@iunderwood @TechOperator And they would consider it money well spent since it apparently resulted in your IT career.
Mine too.

Tesla is winning over a hard-to-please and influential group—truckers. Truckers who drove it in pilot tests say they loved features including a centered driving position, faster charging and longer range for about $100,000 less than other battery-electric trucks. on.wsj.com/4shzrax

Imagine a reviewer’s options for these crazy PhD dissertations:
1) Reject the dissertation, continue to have to deal with the candidate for another year or two, and inevitably have to review another similar dissertation
2) Approve the dissertation, never have to see the candidate again, and enjoy imagining them trying to find a real job

Most network monitoring tools look like they gave up somewhere around 2008.
Endless panels. Random colors. Everything shouting, nothing clear.
Meanwhile, NOC teams sit in front of this for hours. During outages. When things actually matter.
This stuff isn’t just “UI”. It directly affects how fast you see the problem.
We’ve been reworking the device overview in NetSense with a simple goal:
make it calm, clear, and fast to read.
Turns out, useful and good-looking are not opposites.

The president and treasurer of the CMU gaming club were roommates and picking a dorm room for the next year.
Each dorm room had a landline phone with an assigned number.
All CMU phones had the 268 prefix
The dormitory they wanted had a room assigned phone number 4263
So their dorm phone the next year became 268-4263 or CMU-GAME

Here is a true story. I was a student at Brigham Young University. The year is 1974. We had a group of us that played chess, wargames, and had an ongoing D&D game. Our only venue was tables in the student center's bowling alley's lounge. Obviously, it was sometimes hard to set a mood with bowling balls crashing into pins and students at the next table laughing & sharing grasshopper shakes.
So we went to the university secretary and had ourselves recognized as an official BYU Game Club. We asked for a room to be assigned to us, so we'd have a meeting place (and get out of the bowling alley).
The secretary gave us a room on the 4th floor of the student center. She told us that according to her information, this room was NEVER ever scheduled for anything, so we could have it all the time. We were thrilled.
We loaded up our gaming gear and went to the room. It was the girls' bathroom. Which actually had a room number, for some reason.
No we never got assigned another room. We just played in the bowling alley from then on. Until 1980, when I graduated. 6 years in the bowling alley.
