I didn’t know any of that. I just assumed the sunshine from the morning and late afternoon was plenty. My daughter caught them in the yard. We have had one of them for over a year just added a male to the tank a few months ago. They always seem happy so I just assumed they’re good. Thanks for the advice. I’ll have to get that set up for them. 🙂

You have a UV light for them, right? Fence lizards need high daily levels of UV to stimulate Vitamin D3 synthesis. This allows them to absorb calcium from food. If they don't get their UV, they won't absorb calcium and they'll develop fatal bone disease over time. Putting them in a sunny window isn't enough because the glass from the window blocks the UV. A single Arcadia D3 Evo placed on the screen over the far left side of their tank (the "hot" side) will be more than enough for those guys. The bulb plus the lamp will run you around $50. Stick it on a 12-hour timer, make sure the opposite side of the tank never gets over 80F so they have somewhere to cool off, and you're good to go. And if you don't want to take advice from a twitter anon, just ask Grok "how should I set up my enclosure for my western fence lizards".
