A Very underserved topic in the Church. First entire sermon I've ever seen or heard of about being Dismissive....both to God and to your Neighbor. The Sin of Omission would be above this topic on a pyramid diagram, because Dismissiveness primarily is what we do Not do that we should, per the Book of James "right thing to Do and does Not do it, it is Sin" DISMISSIVENESS Part.1 * Enlarging the heart in respect to God and others needs * Generosity towards the Maker and the Neighbor * Greed plus Dismissive spirit. *Perspective, Mindset that Dismisses reality (Now, "this night") *Truth of earthly abundance.  What does it gain?  For God or for others? *Money is the only Blessing-Abundance? * Avoiding uncomfortable realities (suffering) of this life, not just Death as most men avoid the most. Not only suffering shortness of money, even sickness, and what other many avoidances uncomfortable for daily life? * Pride is foundation of the Dismissive spirit * Dismissiveness is the Affect of a Cause (sown seed) of poor stewardship. Lax, non-anticipatory minds thoughts, of God and others good. Stewardship is not only of money or material things, but time and brainwork * Dismissiveness in any application, is also Recklessness and Neglect "He who knows the right thing to do and does Not do it, to him it is sin" * Dismissiveness is Sin against the Greatest-Foremost Commandment, unto God and Neighbor. Harm to them, hate of them. * Genuine care for God and Neighbor? Then be Genuine Care-Full-ness "Consider how....." (Heb 10:24), not wait until the Neighbor or God is brought upon the mind from without, but Initiate-Consider on own from within. "See me"?  No, "see others" Phil 2:3-5 as God "considered men on His own initiative, while they considered Him not and still yet sinners against Him who is Holy" Rom 5:8 * Dismissiveness is God ordained opportunity to Bless, Grace on others ignored * The easiest, even cheap cost of Blessings/Grace is encouraging note in someone else's time of need/suffering. This too is only the "minimum". If it cost little, what value is it? * "Social Distancing", physical separation?  Not an excuse for being out of Unity (contact) and Heart yearnings with brethren, the Body Especially those in Vulnerable places and conditions. "Weep with those who weep...." the broken hearted. Contrary to...."go in peace, I will not feed you or give you a coat, praying for you sick/vulnerable brother, as Satan may be seeking to destroy you, your faith in your crisis need. I want my comfort not in your mess." James 2:16 * Dismissiveness towards a crisis, not own but anothers, sins in the Omission to Obey. Obey to be used of God providentially to distribute the grace of God in their time of need and God's choice to help them in some way He sees fit. "When one is weak, another is strong for the moment to lift him up." Ezek 3:17-21 Rom 12:15 Gal 6:2 1 Cor 12:26 Eccl 4:9-12 * Dismissiveness Rejects God's Transforming Sanctification for Oneself * Dismissiveness is Rejection of Submission, to God, or any process or person (and their needs for you to meet) placed in your life while the weak one and their needs were not even on your mind. But God by the Holy Spirit works amd initiates and brought to Light and Presentation of the matter, as He is Omnipotent and Omniscient for their needs and your Transformation/Sanctification in the engagement with their suffering. "Fellowship of suffering" is how man gets glimpses into His undue suffering for His sons. * Dismissiveness is not rooted with a holy grasp on the Facts of the crisis or matter, nor even concerned how and why it has come to Glorify God and be good for men involved on both sides of the crisis. * Dismissiveness stems from selfish ungodly concern with Self comfort, Business As Usual, "You mind your business, I'll mind mine"
