For USC's 12th game, there are 20 potential FBS opponents - 13 teams with open spots in their schedule, 7 teams that could schedule USC as a 13th opponent under the Hawaii rule. The Trojans would prefer to schedule a week 0 game rather than fill their 10/17 or 11/7 byes.

This obviously relates to the USC stance that it was blindsided by Notre Dame's Top-12 protected status in the CFP, which allegedly affected the Trojans' willingness to continue the series.
