51 days until kickoff. ☘️ c. 1951 Home (Green) and Away (White) jerseys I don’t have a #51 jersey in the collection, so today I’m sharing one of my favorite photographs from the era. This circa-1951 team scrimmage gives a great look at Notre Dame’s heavy Durene jerseys in action, with players wearing both the iconic green home uniforms and white away uniforms. These thick cotton jerseys were built for durability rather than comfort and represent a completely different era of football. Seeing both uniform sets together in one image offers a rare glimpse into what a Notre Dame intra-squad scrimmage looked like more than 70 years ago. Sometimes a great piece of Notre Dame history isn’t a jersey at all—it’s a photograph that captures the uniforms exactly as they were meant to be worn. ☘️🏈
