Uber driver explained his name to me. His parents wanted to assimilate, so him and his siblings all have Indian names that sound like American ones. His name is pronounced like "Davey". Clever idea!

The US produces well over 100k comp-sci grads every year. There’s no skillset you “have” that Americans don’t. ~65% of H-1Bs are computer-related jobs, and 70%+ of recipients are from India. Companies prefer H-1B labor because it’s pennies on the dollar, not because of a talent gap. That’s corporate greed, not American laziness.

I'm a retired schoolteacher, and MAGA. This advice is terribly wrong. Children should never be held back a grade. They end up physically and emotionally much older than their classmates, and become a target of ridicule. I remember this from my own growing up, and how these kids were treated. If a child is unable to read, they need special ed or tutoring until they catch up--not the stigma of being held back! The 50's were a golden era compared to today, but not everything we did back then was wise, good, and worth returning to.

The key to fixing public education is to bring back something we’ve lost: standards. If you can’t read by the end of 3rd grade, you shouldn’t move on to 4th grade. Make algebra competence the default before high school. Knowledge of U.S. civics should be a condition for graduation.

Winter can kill you in hours, minutes in some places. Furthermore, winter is predictable in timing in ways that Africa's dry seasons are not. Predictability advantages planning
