Canada ran a pilot in British Columbia from 2023 to 2026 allowing adults to possess up to 2.5 grams of drugs like opioids, cocaine, meth, and MDMA without criminal charges. Police instead directed individuals to health and support services rather than arresting them. Let’s check in on Vancouver today.

Harm reduction workers and tax Payer funded VANDU (Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users) have been paying people to participate in their overdose awareness marches. However, in 2026, attendance has dwindled as the public increasingly learns what these groups are actually doing. Even so called harm reduction figures like Guy Felicella are struggling to draw in any support in Vancouver, BC.

The City of Vancouver cut funding to a program called MAPS, marketed as a sex workers program. However, , all they do is drive around handing out sandwiches and coffee to women in front of places which already provides a wide array of services for women

@somerspsych Absolutely Absurd (def): Giving a human with serious addiction and/or mental health issues zero incentive to change and expecting them to change.

People who use Consumption Sites need healthy housing, support regaining employment, and treatment for their addiction and mental illness And most of their drug use occurs outside a CS - BC went from 1 to 58 CSs as deaths and suffering soared Invest in prevention & social reintegration

🚨 THIS IS VANCOUVER 🚨 8 city cleaners. 3 VPD officers. All deployed… to clean the SAME block again. Let that sink in. This isn’t “random trash.” It’s being dumped—on sidewalks, in doorways, piled onto public bus stops. And we just keep sending crews back… over and over… pretending it’s working. At what point do we stop calling this compassion and start calling it what it is—a broken system? Nothing changes if nothing changes. 🎥 Watch this👇 @VancouverPD @greenestcity

I am increasingly convinced that this will be David Eby's last legislative session as Premier. Eby is the focus of much of the blame but all NDP MLA's who supported the reckless, dangerous experiments like decriminalization, "safe supply", a reconciliation agenda that led to court decisions like Cowichan, out of control use of MAID that goes way beyond what other provinces would tolerate and so much more. On the economic front, the NDP policies have led to record debt and deficits, non-stop downgrades to our credit rating, people fleeing the province, surging unemployment, a collapsing forest industry, collapsing business confidence... A Healthcare system that is unrecognizable from ten years ago, addicts dying on our streets, declining educational outcomes, post secondary institutions obsessed with fringe DEI programs over merit while campuses become unsafe for Jewish students, criminality that drives out business... Every single NDP MLA had a role to play in this. British Columbia has suffered while NDP staffers and politicians have themselves raised and promotions. It's time they are shown the door. All of them.

The company PHS css that runs Insite for VCH are in a business of capturing people and making them dependent on the addiction as being that is your life now and there has been only decline and death ;no advancement to a better life for young adults now 10 yrs older ;not wiser.

@mikeholyk33 @somerspsych @timescolonist Palliative care without the supports of palliative care. The expense of maintaining an illicit drug habit has been transferred to BC taxpayers, not the consumer. Those that wish to leave their opioid addiction are denied detox, and coerced to into a single choice … more opioids.

Decriminalization of hard drugs was a horrible, failed and dangerous experiment. There is nothing safe about so-called safe supply. Far too many of these taxpayer-funded pills are being sold right outside pharmacies to buy harder street drugs. Watch my full clip on Conversations That Matter where I lay it out. We need real investment in people with more treatment beds, more recovery programs, and more counselling to bring our loved ones home drug-free. British Columbians deserve better. There should be no conditional sentencing for somebody who stabbed MULTIPLE people. Also politely asking a mass stabber to not possess any knives is beyond delusional. Justice is not being done here. globalnews.ca/news/11803454/…

@seanorr I can’t believe we have to keep saying this: all neighbouring states/provinces dealing with the same toxic drug supply have consistently had lower OD rates than BC, with no decrim or safe supply, while BC a global pioneer in harm reduction has seen absolutely the worst outcomes.

BC’s Health Officer is dangerously ignorant about the science of addiction Is her closed-mindedness related to the fact that several of her closest colleagues formed “safe supply” companies? Too big to fail? Note: No jurisdiction in the world has ever reduced a drug crisis by making a drug more readily available
