#VPDNews: A violent offender who was arrested by the VPD earlier this month has been released back into the community. Jordan McIntosh was previously released into the community last September. He was serving a conditional sentence order related to two counts of assault and one count of breach release order from a 2024 incident. McIntosh was bound by several conditions which included wearing an ankle monitor. After cutting off his ankle monitor and going on the run on December 4, investigators with the VPD’s Intimate Partner Violence and Risk Assessment Unit became involved due to McIntosh’s history of violence against women. Detectives and District Five officers received information on March 2, and tracked McIntosh to a rooming house on Water Street. “McIntosh tried to escape by jumping out of a window,” said VPD Sergeant Adam Donaldson. “Fortunately, our officers planned for that scenario, and he was taken into custody with the help of a police dog.” McIntosh was held in custody for a breach of conditional sentence order hearing that took place yesterday. The court ultimately decided to release him back into the community to serve his sentence with another ankle monitor, rather than keep him in custody. McIntosh has 49 criminal convictions, including 11 for violence or weapons.

Earlier this week, #VPD, in partnership with @WavefrontCentre, hosted a communications course in ASL (American Sign Language). The course was attended by both police members and civilian professionals and was designed to support more effective interactions with individuals who are hard of hearing, deaf, or deaf blind. Many special thanks to our instructors from @WavefrontCentre, our course organizer, and all who attended and participated! @VancouverPD @VPDChiefRai

Investment fraud is designed to look like a great opportunity, but it often leads to devastating financial loss. Scammers promise unusually high returns, then disappear with your money. Common investment scams include cryptocurrency or Ponzi schemes, “pump and dump” stock scams, and many more. 🚩 Red flags to watch for: • Unsolicited investment offers — even from friends or family • Promises of higher-than-normal returns • High-pressure tactics to invest quickly • Requests to pay in cryptocurrency • Links to unfamiliar or fake investment websites Before investing, take the time to verify the opportunity. Don’t rely on the contact information provided in unsolicited materials. Research the company independently and check with your provincial securities regulator for warnings or fraud alerts. If an investment sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Learn more: bit.ly/4dmahCR #PreventFraud

3) To Vancouver Police @VancouverPD This audio file was posted by Dr. Masood Masjoody on his Twitter account before he was killed. In it, Mehdi Ahmadzadeh Razavi's voice , later arrested as one of the killers , says that he and Arezou Soltani beat Masood Masjoody and left him covered in dirt and blood. Full translation: Well, I would like to wish a very good night to everyone. Right now the clock shows that it is exactly 12.21 in the morning. Oh, what an interesting night I started from around 4.30, 5 o'clock. A fight with the Mojahedin members. Approximately 30 minutes later, finally locating the Al-Gadir Mosque. Another 30 minutes passed after that. A fierce and intense clash broke out, moving back and forth, and ultimately rubbing Masood Masjoodys and Minusad's noses deep into the dirt and the blood. I'll tell you the details tomorrow about what happened and all, but just know that tonight, Arzu ( Arezou Soltani.)and I brought Masood Masjoody and Minusad to their knees. I mean, they're already shameless, but for now… They can't even lift their heads to try any more of that nonsense. We'll give you the full explanation tomorrow. Sorry it's late now and we're tired. Let's go get some rest so we can go see the Mojahedin in the morning and find out who wants to come there. “ Note: this Video Translated from Persian to To ENGLISH by Kurd Alarm via telegram at : t.me/KurdAlarm @Ehsan_HoZa

#VPDNews: Calling it a pragmatic and sensible approach that balances police powers and privacy rights, Chief Constable Steve Rai today endorsed proposed federal legislation to improve access to information about offenders who use smartphones and the internet to commit crimes. "The growth of modern smartphones and telecommunications networks has brought rapid and dramatic change to the world around us. While many of these changes have made our lives easier, they have also created new opportunities for criminals who use telecommunications to plan, execute, and finance crimes that threaten public safety," says Chief Rai, who hosted a roundtable discussion Friday that included local police leaders, along with federal and provincial legislators. "Unfortunately, existing laws have not kept pace with these technological changes. As a result, the work of identifying offenders, solving crimes, and keeping our communities safe has become more difficult. While Bill C-22 is just one step, I believe it is a step in the right direction – one that balances the operational needs of police with the privacy rights of citizens." Chief Rai's comments came following the introduction of Bill C-22 – federal legislation that would help streamline the legal process for police to identify people who use telecommunications devices and the internet to commit crime. "The tools proposed in Bill C-22 would make it easier for police officers to identify which telecommunications service provider an offender may be using to commit crimes. This would allow investigators to move more quickly to serve production orders and secure critical evidence," added Chief Rai. "While this proposed legislation represents a significant step forward, it also ensures that any private information gathered during a criminal investigation is obtained lawfully and in full compliance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms."

#VPDNews: Vancouver Police are releasing the photo of a suspect in a series of stranger assaults against women in the downtown core. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. VPD initiated an investigation on January 29, 2025, after a 44-year-old woman was assaulted by a man she didn’t know while walking near Granville and Dunsmuir Street. Over the course of several months, at least three other women reported being assaulted by a man with a similar description. Each incident allegedly involved the suspect elbowing or shoulder-checking the victims while passing them on downtown sidewalks – in some cases knocking them to the ground. The VPD investigation led police to a 28-year-old man, who was arrested March 5 by investigators from VPD’s Special Investigation Section, with assistance from patrol officers in the downtown core. Dylan Brandon Gaita has now been charged with four counts of assault that allegedly occurred between January 29, 2025, and January 31, 2026. “Unprovoked violence against strangers is an ongoing concern for everyone, and we know that sometimes these incidents are not immediately reported to police,” says Constable Megan Lui. “Although we’ve made an arrest in these cases, there may still be additional victims, witnesses, or people with information. That is why we’ve chosen to release the suspect’s photo, and ask anyone who has not yet come forward to contact police.”

#VPDNews: VPD officers working in the Downtown Eastside have helped re-unite a stolen high-end bicycle with its owner, after the bike was taken during a residential break-and-enter in North Vancouver last week. A VPD Special Municipal Constable was patrolling near the Vancouver Jail, at Main and East Cordova Street, on March 6 when he spotted two suspicious people with a valuable Specialized road bike. The SMC stopped to speak with the people, who were unable to explain where they got the bike or what they were doing with it. Although it hadn’t yet been reported stolen and wasn’t registered with Project 529, the heads-up Special Municipal Constable contacted a Specialized retailer, provided the bike’s serial number, and learned that the people in possession of the bike weren’t the ones that bought it. After making several more phone calls, the SMC tracked down the rightful owner, who was unaware that the bike had been stolen that week from their residence near Cates Park in North Vancouver. “While we’re thrilled to have recovered this bike and are now in the process of returning it, most cases like this don’t have such a happy ending,” says Constable Megan Lui. “We recommend all cyclists register their bikes with Project 529 as an additional security measure to prevent theft, and to help police track their owners when bikes are stolen.” The bike is now in the process of being returned to its owner.
