Why we love cross country. It’s all about the team. The @FriarsXCTrack women react to finishing third as a team at the NCAA Cross Championships. Pure joy from Kimberley May, who led the squad with a 10th place finish individual finish. #NCAAXC

@karagoucher @des_linden @TCS so glad to hear you guys shoutout the way Emily Sisson handled all the pressure: I know Fiona and Dakota are getting a lot of attention as the wild cards, but sometimes it's harder to be the one with all the expectations on your back 👋

Update from meeting w/ Max & @usatf on Trials start time: Everyone is willing to move earlier except LOC, @GreaterORLSport . Even @nbc is willing to broadcast live earlier. Counting on Orlando to protect the integrity of the event and put athletes’ safety first!

@des_linden @Scienceofsport @DelawareTrackXC I’m fine with that. Abnormally warm temps have not been that unusual for many marathons the past few years. I don’t know where we draw the line at how high above average is too hot for a noon start time though

@Em_Sisson @Scienceofsport @DelawareTrackXC Agree if it’s in the mid 80s they should move it. Also agree, that would be a rare hot week. Is it wrong to plan for the average and adjust if abnormal?

Unpopular opinion but as someone who starts my runs at ~11am I’m pretty geeked on the extra hour to goof around before training. Warmer temps should slightly minimize the pace of super shoes and reward smart racing. So you’re sayin’ there’s a chance?! Count me in!

Rumors are true. Olympic Marathon Trials will start at noon in Orlando on Feb. 3, 2024. Potential for a very warm race. runnersworld.com/news/a44695454…

@Scienceofsport @DelawareTrackXC @des_linden I’m not so worried about average temps. I think if it’s like last year & it’s mid 80’s + humid, they should move it earlier. It’s winter in U.S., acclimatizing is not going to be easy for running at noon during a rare hot week.

@DelawareTrackXC @des_linden Of interest, true heatstroke is rare and happens, often, in quite cold conditions. Heat exhaustion/failure is more common, but if elites pace themselves, would avoid it. And temps in the 70s aren't that bad, if athletes prepare properly for them. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18580397/

@SaraHall3 @usatf needs to be prepared to tape delay. Not sure what temp cutoff should be to move it but at noon sun will feel strong. We’ll heat prep for it but even training in Orlando in January probably won’t be warm enough. Don’t need perfect weather just want safe!

In this history of marathoning has a marathon ever been held in the middle of the day in 90 degree humid weather? Is there any precedence for this even being safe?

Congrats @KeiraDAmato on breaking the U.S. women’s half marathon record today! It’s awesome to be a part of this era of U.S. women’s distance running where records are continuously improving. Especially impressive considering your travel—enjoy the moment Keira 😊

It is another big gift that has finally been a warded after a long time of patience. I am grateful that 2021 results is officially released thanks to Boston Athletics Association and AIU in supporting strict anti doping measures to ensure fair compensation and clean sport.

@Em_Sisson spent her taper on legos, I am going to be coloring baby books alongside my daughter when not chasing her around, should be fun right? @timganman got the book for Zoe, he had no idea that mom would want in on it too, his savings is about to be depleted 😅
