@GaryBoshears In 10 years I truly hope you feel this way. I hope for the sake of our future you are right.

Cringe in a *good* way, right? Like how The Office is cringe? Also, were people randomly placed on this thing for rage bait? This makes very little sense.

@GregTrayling @WKCosmo @Kaju_Nut Im not involved in an exhaustive search, but one big topic in the QIS community was post-selecting classical states from an evaporated black hole as a way to track evolution from an in-falling pair. Imo this doesn't explain much for the information paradox arxiv.org/abs/2207.06536

If the universe started out in a pure quantum state, how is anything in a mixed state now?

@WKCosmo @Kaju_Nut So if I were to write down a channel where I initialize some photons in a pure state and evolve them through a black hole and calculate quantum capacity that capacity calculation (hence unitarity) would not be the same if I treated the state as mixed with respect to the universe.

@Kaju_Nut @WKCosmo Conserve energy so how then do we define the "pure state universe" as pure states conserve energy and likely unitarity. Do we define the pure state as the total expanded universe and currently we are at a mixed state or do we redefine the pure states energy every moment of time?

@Kaju_Nut @WKCosmo This is really nice. I think the "pure state universe" with mixed state subsets is a great way to think of it. My thinking this way is mostly due to the unruh effect because conservation of energy is real. What bothers me mostly is that the expansion of the universe does not...

@welt_woman @WKCosmo I thought it looked delicious too and then I read the ingredients list and... I don't get it.

Business tip; Whenever you are flying commercial, especially in business/first class, always wear your best business suit & tie combo (business formal). When someone walks on the plane in a great suit, white dress shirt & clean tie, I always think to myself, “I wonder what that guy/gal does for a living.” (Obviously no tie for the ladies ;)) It’s human nature. When I was 22, and now that I am 42, I always find myself wanting ask him/her “hey, what do you do for a living?” If you are in commercial real estate, especially brokerage, by dressing your absolute professional best, people will ask you “what do you do for a living?”, and that’s all you need to get the conversation started. In business/first class, there is a real chance they are in the real estate business, but an even better chance they know someone in the real estate industry, someone who can be your client one day. It is an easy way to network and meet new people, you just have to give a little more effort to dress up and eschew your “I don’t give a sh*t” sweat pants and F-U hoodie. This also works in coach, just to a lesser degree. Combine the professional clothes with a clean shave, combed hair, and I hate to admit, yes a nice watch helps, at minimum you will get looks, and in all likelihood the person sitting next to you will have to ask… “hey, what do you do for a living?”

If you need a modern and fairly up to date book on high energy physics/standard model, this text by Paul Langacker is a wise choice, recommended to me by many. The chapters on standard electroweak theory and neutrino mass (missing in older texts) are of very high quality.
