We've hung out at creator-related functions and have talked about video-related things, but we don't have each other phone numbers or anything. Hence "work friends."

This was the first video I ever watched from Vsauce. I remember being hooked on his stuff after watching this. He continues to inspire me as an Edutainer. One of the GOATS. Anyway, I find it kinda funny (I find it kind of sad) that this video got recommended to me again today.

I'm having a crisis here. Maybe someone who knows more about physics can explain it. When light travels across vast distances in space, it redshifts due to the expansion of space itself. This implies a photon has less energy when it arrives at an observer than when it was emitted. But the laws of thermodynamics as I understand them say this can't be the case because it implies that energy just disappears. I asked Grok and it told me the conservation of energy only applies to flat spacetime, not an expanding universe, and I just about shit my pants. I asked for clarification and its answer doesn't make sense to me. Help.

@TierZoo @acapellascience I think the "school/city/country" is the perfect example. Sometimes those also come with a sense of pride, like "my team." That seems to be what other Nebula creators feel when they use the word "my" in their promotions. Perfectly reasonable.

@acapellascience It's ours cuz we built it ourselves. And if you want to get into the weeds grammar-wise, it's not abnormal to say "my" for things you only have a small stake in. "My school/my city/my country" etc. you use it when the person you're talking to would not be part of the "our".

look i'm gonna say it, the "MY streaming service Nebula" line is weird and always stands out like a sore thumb. "My" is singular. if i own 1% of a company that's not "my" company

@TierZoo I've been making videos for over 12 years now and have been full-time for 6 of those years. My channel has been on the decline since mid-2022. In January 2024, I leaned hard into Patreon and it did grow, but not enough. Times are tough for everyone 😞.

The response to my ZierToo video has been amazing. I wasn't expecting anywhere near a quarter million people to want to talk about the state of the creator economy, but what I REALLY didn't expect was how many fellow creators would reach out to say they're feeling squeezed too.

@NickLucid Ppl been claiming I am AI generated for a year now. It's fascinating in that AI is passing the Turing test (in a generalized sense) not because it's really gotten so good, but because people think it's better than it really is and mistake humans for AI.

I regret not being faceless from the beginning and now I can't even pivot to being faceless because people will think I've been taken over by AI.

@Kiwi75765339 The facial expressions and body language also happen to be *exhausting* for me. They're choreographed and part of the script. If I was a faceless channel, I'd be able to be much more genuine. (Being faceless from the start would have saved a lot of money in production equip.)

@VergaraLautaro I used Laplace transforms to solve a quantum mechanics problem once. Teacher critiqued it though because there was a more "elegant" solution.

It seems that Laplace's transform is rarely taught in undergraduate physics (except probably few cases, as here at our Phys. Dept.) Why do you think it is so?
