Apart from some of the casting and acting choices, I thought everything else was solid for a live action adaptation.
I think the biggest reason people are upset is because they expect animation physics and exaggeration to translate directly into live action.

@idanbabyonchain Yep, they took it to seriously. Was it great? No, did it live up to the original, it never will. They will never be able to achieve with the animation did, and people can't seem to disassociate the two.
I watched to see how they weave the stories and what changes were made.

Oh, she should shut the f up. Mai is not fat faced, and she’s one of the most nonchalant characters in the Avatar universe.
She keeps to herself, barely reacts to anything, and gives off a calm, detached vibe. The live action Mai doesn’t capture that energy at all.
And I don’t see how it’s rude to tell a female actor to gain or lose weight if it’s for a role.
