I would be amazed if there wasn't a rule change at the end of the season with regards to corners in the Premier League. League will be concerned by the awful spectacle and it doesn't work in Europe either due to better refereeing.

I give Amorim credit in that he did dismantle player power. I think he implemented standards on and off pitch. But you have to win.

They aren't exactly defending Amorim. They are defending their own arrogance and behavior, as well as what they said to those who asked genuine questions about Amorim. They had gone so far in their efforts to defend the man that they now have no choice but to persevere.
The genuine ones have admitted that they made a mistake and already moved on.

Amorim was trying to coach us to play a different style for the long term. Carrick is not doing anything for the long term, he’s doing what he knows these players are comfortable with for the best possible short term results. It takes barely above room temperature IQ to grasp.

@cmwinterburn I don’t think people remember just how good it was when it was 4 groups of 4. No nonsense R16, straight to QF, away goals, very few really “poor” team and jeopardy galore.
It’s been sterilised with every addition and new incarnation. Same as everything in football tbh

We don’t need to see any more of this UCL format. Total dross. Qarabag going through having conceded 21 goals is laughable. It has done nothing but bloat the schedule & give big clubs a safety net. At some point you must suggest winning it is no longer the achievement it once was
