No they’re not. Nobody at Newcastle has heard anything about this, so there are no talks let alone advanced ones. Does that mean there is no truth in Manchester United’s interest? Well that’s a different question but as things stand there is nothing going on. It’s March and I think a #nufc player has been linked with another club every week since December.

This is so interesting. Chevalier was one of the best GKs in Ligue 1 while at Lille. Really goes to show performances at one club, esp. by a young player, doesn't always translate to a different club (with different contexts) United gets too much hate for the Sancho signing imo.

All it did was to incentivize clubs to break rules. Why would clubs like Villa, Newcastle, Forest comply with PSR/FFP now when serial cheaters like Chelsea and City get away with a slap on the wrist? Everton got point deductions for overshooting stadium plans by about £20m. Newcastle had to sell players like Minteh and Anderson just to comply with PSR. I firmly believe that spending rules are needed, but when some clubs escape punishment with absolutely no consequences while others are punished for trying to comply with them, you start questioning the veracity of such rules. These clubs have every right to feel aggrieved.
