@PaulTonkinson Yeah, that's a very fair assessment, and it's likely the thing Carrick would be doing.

@RedMarrow_ I get why you’d say that. We’re winning without control at the minute. Carricks still auditioning for job, he’ll want as many wins as possible. Just don’t think we’re in that zone.

With CL secured, United must use the next games to give sufficient minutes to the likes of Thwaites, the Fletcher brothers, etc. With reports coming that the third midfielder could be from the academy, you need to plan ahead. Give them sufficient exposure when the stakes are low

Btw, Florian Wirtz.. Donny van de Beek might have been a better Premier League footballer than him. And he was shite. £126m. Nothing from the media though. I remember the song and dance when he scored a couple of goals against Switzerland in a friendly and Barnsley in the FA Cup.

The situation is wonderful, we've secured Champions League, we are winning games and the players are playing well. The summer signings have stepped up and clicked really well and Kobbie came back into the team and has gone from strength to strength. Carrick has done a fantastic interim job and as I hoped he would he really galvernised the team.. As a Utd fan I couldn't be happier and have really enjoyed watching, supporting us and sharing those moments with friends and like-minded positive fans. Very much looking forward to Champions League nights next season 🙌 Its also been so refreshing, taking a step back from twitter since Carrick took over. Watching Utd and not feeling the need to defend, justify or argue about being positive and supporting the club has really improved the experience for me. My positivity is all topped up and running wild again! In the end, I know your trying to score "told you so" points regarding Ruben. I was disappointed it didn't work out, I still maintain he made positive changes during him time but in the end the job came too soon for him, he was too young, too stubborn and our squad wasnt a good fit for the setup he wanted to play. The fully fit starting 11 could just about adapt and play it but with injuries and absences it was doomed and his stubborn streak / failing to adapt lost him the gig - rightly so. Onwards and upwards, I hope you get chance next season to come over and watch a game. Tickets are on me if we draw Benfica or Porto in the Champions League 🤝

It was NEVER the formation. The back 3 stuck 4 goals past Brighton. It was always the quality of our players, the floor of the squad, the depth is NOT good enough - it was so OBVIOUS to anyone. Sacking the manager, because he asked for some help, any help and telling him to change to a formation THAT IS NOT ANY MORE GUARENTEED to bring results was ridiculous. Still regardless who the manager is the squad still needs investment. This squad will struggle to secure top 5 or european football this season. I really really hope and pray the interim manager whoever it is, can galvanise us.. because right now its flatter than ever. Sensible fans are losing faith. I hope the 4231 works, I hope Mainoo steps up, I hope the players respond and try to salvage this season because right now its looking flat... Amorim Outers are the only HAPPY "fans" right now and that says everything about the state of this club and its "fans". Next up Man City, then Arsenal. A win against either could ignite the 2nd half of the season for us, need Amad and Bryan back and need to get to work on the training pitch.

@RedMarrow_ I've never known fans happy that the team are losing so they can prove their point. The fletcher spell also reinforces the great job that Carrick has done since he's come in. I do think Amorim done a lot of good for our squad, but Carrick has taken us to another level on field

Saw a lot of gloating when Fletcher couldn't beat Brighton and was knocked out of the FA Cup. "See, the players are shit!" "Oh, back 3 is not the problem, the players are" "Mainoo is shit!" "Ruben was right" "We sacked a great manager" A lot of confirmation bias was going on. Many fans were giving holier-than-thou attitudes. I bookmarked their posts for future references. I am reading them now and quietly chuckling at their confidence, their audacity to say those things with ultimate conviction and disregard for any notion to the contrary. It's been very entertaining.

The amount of gloating I am seeing from United fans has actually been an eye-opener. Some are genuinely chuffed that we lost that game because they can now peddle their manager propaganda. Because a caretaker couldn't do what a permanent hasn't been able to do in 14 months. Ah well, the battle lines have been drawn. Let's meet at the end of the season. Let's see if the new manager can achieve more than a 31.9% league win rate or not. PS: I am muting this tweet. Won't even bother reading the comments.

Ummm, let's see: 3rd, CL secured with 3 games to go, 1st on points won since Carrick came in, Beat Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Villa and Chelsea (every team you mentioned) all with superior squad depth (your words). I solemnly swear I am being honest
Simon Diamond@SimonDi84173356

@RedMarrow_ And yet we in 6th place behind arsenal, man city,Liverpool and villa and level with Chelsea who all have superior squad depth, where the fuck do you think we should be in the league,be honest !

@ryanduffy211 Oh that should be the priority I completely agree but I think we can start bringing more youth players off the bench over senior players with no future here (like Ugarte for example)

@RedMarrow_ Personally mate i want us finishing with maximum available points. I know CL is what matters but i would love to get the 70 point mark. Would be great if we could get it while giving these lads a run out though.

@MLeClercq12 Yeah, Lacey should be right up there with the bunch getting minutes. We need to be giving them PL exposure bit by bit. There is no use giving minutes to senior players with no future here like Ugarte or Zirkzee for example

@RedMarrow_ I think maybe more important is giving Lacey sufficient time. Amad and Boomo not playing well. Is Lacey ready for the jump? Perfect time to give him meaningful minutes to have a proper look

Very tough to stomach this last week. The well of "sensible" ideas that give room for optimism is nearly tapped out. Watched that game and there were times when it felt like Ragnick's United. There's no point crying over spilt milk. The decision has been made and we have to live with it, but we got rid of a manager that the team was fully behind. The performances were there, while the results admittedly weren't. But over a season they right themselves. We've effectively been told that the season is over midway through the season again. Last year it was because there was a long term plan. This year, it's because feelings were hurt and the long term plan is less important than people's egos. It's all a bit shambolic. The interim manager needs to come in (fast) and get these players who will all be hurting and get them to believe in themselves again.
