🩸 Do you have type 2 diabetes? 🌿Are you interested in alternative proteins? 🙋We're looking for volunteers for a study investigating whether plant proteins can improve glucose control. If interested DM myself or @DrBPCarson #Diabetes #Nutrition

And where it is supported, it’s often in strictly controlled environments, flooding the circulation with a rapidly digested, isolated and liquid form of protein.

Much more nuance to this required. Though I acknowledge nuance is difficult in a tweet, assuming this is true, word for word, consuming, regularly, meals of <30g of protein per meal means no postprandial stimulation of MPS?!?
Don Layman@donlayman

The 30g number is an estimate of the MINIMUM protein needed in an average meal to contain 2.5g of leucine to stimulate mTOR & MPS. The max at a meal for benefit is less clear but around 55g. Amount per meal & total per day are both important

@DrMyohead Absolutely! All worthwhile follow up questions that I want to know the answer to! Hopefully someone, somewhere will be chipping away at them given that RT is always a hot topic.

@GPavis @DrBPCarson @tsojameson @BenjaminTWall HA! I can relate great work I was only giving some obvious follow up ideas for your next PhD 😂😉 The young vs old would be an interesting comparison too. To be fair now that you have the current result it would be easier to branch out congrats on finishing this monster project!

@DrBPCarson @DrMyohead @tsojameson @BenjaminTWall We did toy with the protein only idea, as well as having young vs old groups! Ultimately decided to stay focussed on the question, though, and that this 'baby step' was already massive enough - I think we'd end up with a PhD in supervising training sessions!
