@GameDevMadeEasy

I thrive where clarity, precision, and a little irreverence meet.

EventChains is a design pattern for building sequential workflows with composable middleware. It combines the clarity of procedural programming, the composability of functional programming, and the flexibility of object-oriented design into a single, language-agnostic pattern that works across paradigms and platforms. EventChains can be described as a pure implementation of Aspect-Oriented Programming that outperforms every AOP Framework in existence and keeping code clean, organized and easy to test. github.com/RPDevJesco/Eve… github.com/RPDevJesco/Eve… github.com/RPDevJesco/Eve…

Well... Hardware, now that is a bridge even I haven't crossed yet as the headscratching from the dense material to understand is quite enormous. For the OS Side of things. Still gonna take a fair amount of time, but resources exist to reduce said time by a lot. github.com/RPDevJesco/tut…

How much time and resources would I need to make my own hardware and OS from scratch? I'm talking about becoming Ladybird of hardware and OS

@davepl1968 I look at this and remember how much I hated questions like these in math class. How much I hated them with the PSAT, SAT and GED exams. My way to solve it is to look at it, eyes glaze over and say, "Nah fuck it, random bullshit number go!"

Let's assume you can solve this. I think HOW you solve it says a lot about how your brain works. First, figure it out so you have your answer, then check the thread for what it all means.

Or you know... You could simply not cheat and reason it out yourself. The video is a clear example of why there is a lot of pushback against LLM. Rate Limits for an API can be as simple as setting a "sliding window" or time between which someone can poll for data via an API. This does have some caveats where if you want to take server load into consideration and allow for a sliding scale based off availability. Which is where you would upon tracking the first query or pull from the API, you look to see how many concurrent and unique users are hitting the API at the same time along with available server resources, when it gets above a certain threshold, you wind down or limit the newer users for API access until you limit for everyone. You would layer this on top of the existing sliding window for rate limiting.

@FightC1ty Based on the video, I would say the dude is in the wrong. She is lighting a cigarette and he invades her personal space to try to blow out the match. She retaliates by throwing the blown out match at him and he punches her in the face. He started the altercation and escalated.

Panel One. Because the person doesn't have credentials, it is dismissed. Ad-hominem as it attacks them not having credentials. Panel Two. Because the person doesn't have credentials, it forms the basis for the reductive reasoning to say that it is probably false. Which is still attacking the person and not the argument. Panel Three. Just calls the person an asshole, attacking them and not the argument.

The sad reality when your "explanatory comic" features all 3 panels being ad hominem attacks. Ad hominem is when you attack the person and not the core argument. First panel uses both ad hominem AND credentialism. The same applies to the second panel. The third panel is strictly ad hominem.

The term "ad hominem" is widely misunderstood. For some reason, there are people who think it means 'throwing around insults', 'laughing at someone', or things of that nature. But that's not at all the case. Here's a helpful explanatory comic:

@GameDevMadeEasy @Adriksh Yeah, in that case something like cmake or other universal make system would be better. TuWiM is very Linux-specific so I really don't need compatibility with other operating systems.

Makefiles are just tribal knowledge passed down through generations. Nobody learns Make. You inherit it. You suffer. You pass it on.

@thedarkhog @Adriksh My project is a bit more advanced where I am working on Windows but need to be able to compile not only on Windows, but also MacOS and Linux. So, .bat, .sh, make, dockercompose and Dockerfile is used for the build chain to make it work on every machine with the same results.

@GameDevMadeEasy @Adriksh I just have a simple .sh build file for my TuWiM C app. It's not complicated, only has a single file so far, so it's good enough for now. If and only if I need more complex build process, I'll look into autotools or cmake, but for now sh is enough.
