@GeeksPolice Though in some speakers the blood flow doesn’t make it to the head.

The American Society of Criminology conference is next week and this is your annual reminder that most of the presentations will likely be 💩
Here are some ways to be less 💩

@Jerry_Ratcliffe I do agree with you about the quality of the presentations though. As a colleague of mine says, all you need is a heartbeat and a checkbook.

@Jerry_Ratcliffe Can you think of a time when LE lowered its standards and it ended up being a good thing? 🤔

New Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent training to go from 18 weeks to 8 weeks, and dropping the degree requirement?
If the plan is to make the FBI a laughing stock, this is the way to do it.

@Shjarback_CCJ @TempleUnivPress That's great! Looking forward to picking it up

@KellyMSocia Chatgpt just generates text, it doesn't look for citations, as far as I know. Every "citation" I've seen from it is entirely made up. Were there valid citations in this paper?

Some news. Really excited to be recognized with the early career award from @ASCPolicing this year. Even better - Geoff Alpert has also been awarded the distinguished career award. Super cool to be able to share that night with my academic hero and mentor.
Here’s to many more years of my dream job working with the amazing coauthors who continue to push me every day!

Big congrats to @ian_t_adams for being selected as the @ASCPolicing early career award winner. I can’t think of anyone more deserving, and the scary part is he has endless more good work coming out soon! 👀 @UofSC_Crim

Yep...seems legit. Why haven't we done this before? 🤦♂️

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) says that if officials lock up 15% of the population, there will be no crime: "Only about 15% of all Americans commit 100% of the crime ... If you lock up the 15%, we don't have any crime." @HeartlandSignal

What an amazing way to end the semester
Thank you @UMassLowell for the award for undergraduate teaching !
And most importantly thank you to all the students who trust me with their time and attention ! This means a lot.

@lonecrim You'll spend a lot time on making edits and other revisions/suggestions, and some students will ignore them or not care.

@GeeksPolice "Reasonably well". Wondering what the snags I ought to be aware of are with this bargain?
English

@DrLauraHuey In terms of gaps, I can put together something fairly quickly on either rural policing or IA units.

Tossing an idea out there for the 2024 issues:
looking for *HIGH QUALITY* qualitative articles, commentaries, systematic reviews, and/or state of the art reviews from researchers/practitioners for @police_practice . Flexible word count. Any interest?

@AdamPlantinga A lot are quite intense with how long they are. I’ve been combing through these manuals that are publicly available (a lot are) for the largest 100 municipal PDs lately.

@Dan_S_Lawrence We know so little about FTOs. Very interested to see what you find.
