@jemelehill It’s not about recruiting players it’s about bringing in alumni money. He still has enough of a reputation to coast on for another couple of years then get moved to an “advisory” roll.

It’s not that he’s out of touch. The media is just greatly overestimating how much his credentials will influence recruits. The landscape in college is drastically different. Players have far more leverage, and coaches have to constantly recruit them. He also has to be more concerned with off-the-field behavior, including academic progress.
