What are the odds that the same guy: - Marries Donald Trump's daughter - has ties to Epstein - is noted in the Epstein Files to be the shadow president of 2016 - worked with Howard Lutnik on the 2024 transition team - became the "Special Peace Envoy" in 2026 - and is a Zionist?

My mother just sent me this pic of my 11th birthday party, 1982. It was obviously a real fucking banger as you can see. That’s me in the upper right wearing the Pony shirt with Pete Rose’s haircut.

@thealepalombo Adriatic coastline is more pristine than Italy’s as it was never industrialized due to lack of trains and freeways. So way less water pollution, litter, development.

3/ This is Croatia (specifically Istria and Opatija): - EU member since 2013 - Digital nomad visa (1 year, renewable up to 2 years total, no tax on foreign income) - Adriatic coastline rivaling Italy's - Rent roughly 25-30% cheaper than Spain's coast A friend of mine just left Malaga after 3 years to move to Croatia. His words: "Same quality of life, less saturated, more affordable."

There are European countries that keep coming up in conversations but NEVER go mainstream. A friend moved to Cluj, Romania 10 years ago. I didn't get it for a long time. Italian friends recently moved to Albania to open ice cream shops. Crazy as that would have sounded 20 years ago. I selected 7 underrated European countries, with specific cities to make it tangible, plus a bonus, that have a real chance of emerging in the coming years. One will likely surprise you 🧵

Where to live: Split, Zagreb, Zadar all work. But the real hidden gem is Istria. Istria is Croatia's answer to Tuscany. Rolling hills, vineyards, truffle forests, hilltop medieval villages. Rovinj feels more Italian than Croatian (it was part of Italy between the wars). Significantly cheaper than Tuscany. Almost nobody outside Croatia knows about it. Special mention: Opatija. Seems a lot of internationals have already moved there. My friend is looking at houses and the realtor keeps telling him how many are occupied by Americans and other Europeans.

@thealepalombo Urban expert here. Do not recommend Tirana. Haven’t been since 2017 but sprawling layout w/ ruins & abandoned development, poor transit. Loved Albania tho (Berat, Gjirokastër)!

2/ This is Tirana, Albania: - €900-1,200/month for a comfortable life - Unique Permit requires just ~€333/month income - 12-month tax exemption on foreign income (temporary, not permanent) - Small businesses under ~€135K revenue: 0% income tax until 2029 The cost of living alone makes it worth a serious look. Almost nobody is talking about this country.

@pitdesi Our Aeromexico/ Delta 737 had to abort SFO landing & climb straight up Sunday night at 9:30 pm because “someone else was on the runway” according to pilot. Scary situation handled well. Looped back over Pacific and tried it again 20 minutes later.

FAA banned parallel landings permanently, will be bad for SFO (max landings drop from 54>36/hr) Given the topography of SFO, we have 2 parallel runways 750’ apart. There was an accident at DCA last year, now the FAA is mandating staggered approaches :(

@aaron_renn There are still pockets of old-school San Francisco, but it’s definitely less than it seemed like when I lived there 30 years ago. Original Joe’s in North Beach is still old San Francisco. So is the Italian athletic club on the same park.

San Francisco feels like a city built by a lost civilization that’s now inhabited by a different people. Very different from NYC where there’s a palpable feeling of connection to the history of the city.

A drive through Potrero Hill in 1975. This footage captures a drive through San Francisco's Potrero Hill projects in 1975. It’s the brief glimpses of the people who lived there at the time, along with the cars, that stand out the most to me. Watch the end for an incredible long tracking shot filmed while driving down 22nd Street between Iowa Street and 3rd Street. All those businesses were there for a long time and no longer exist today. This is the area where the Muni yard sits, along with Woods Yard Park. Back then, it was just an empty dirt lot. source footage 🎥: WMAR

@Matt_Pinner Robin Williams. We sat outside a coffee shack at a picnic table about 15 minutes talking cycling, both wearing biking jerseys. I first had noticed him giving sh*t to the girls working the shack, "What are you on the rag or something?" They cracked up & he sat with me.

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever spoken to? Not “seen from far away” — actually talked to, even for a minute. A quick hello, a handshake, a normal conversation… and you still remember it. Who was it?

It took the @suno AI model less than 30 seconds to scan all the music ever created and generate this rendition of my song (and a second iteration!). Such power is deeply seductive. But I’m committed to doing the work it takes to pull together living, breathing musicians to do better. And I don’t just mean a better result. As in living your life — the joy of music is in the doing, not the end point. 1/2

I'm grappling with all of the issues presented by AI but also testing it. Ducking and covering makes little sense. Love your monsters. My guitar-vocal song "Good News from 2044 - Really" needs to be performed by a rockabilly band. Here's my @suno demo envisioning that outcome. Watch all the way through for the full original tune. #AImusic

I’m stunned by my reach on X now, maybe 3% of my followers? And people I’ve followed for years, I never see their posts. I understand algorithms change and maybe my posts are that bad, but X seems to have disincentivized real users in favor of spam.

@US_Stormwatch The iphone app is a joke. Non-developer here but I've spoken w/ weather app developers & said iPhone app based on some obsolete & abandoned legacy app. I use Wunderground: way more accurate for temp forecasts & especially forecasted precip amounts

The Weather App on your iPhone is awful (sorry, Apple). I’ve seen tons of screenshots of the upcoming heatwave forecast, and the Weather App is off by up to 5-10 degrees. National Weather Service forecasts are the most accurate source, but unfortunately its website looks like it was built in 2003. @EverythingWX (not an ad) is the only app I know of that displays NWS forecasts in a great user interface. If you are wondering why the Weather App’s forecasts are so inaccurate, it’s because it only uses select raw weather data without any trained meteorologists reviewing it. There are over 120 NWS offices across the US that issue fantastic forecasts using far more models and tools, with real humans reviewing the data. Take the Weather App’s forecast for San Francisco, it’s only forecasting a high of 83°F on Tuesday, while the NWS is forecasting 88°F. The NWS also uses a point forecast system where each grid square covers a 2.5 km × 2.5 km area, which more accurately captures microclimates, perfect for a city like San Francisco. Use the NWS forecast this week and ditch the Weather App.
