@EssexgoonerMr Do you have any *actual* evidence @EssexgoonerMr ? If so present it to the police, and then they will have *actual* evidence. As is all there is are some wild claims, that don't appear to be backed up in reality.

@stuey_beef @MartinTwigs68 Question for brits here: how did you manage to elect this garbage to power (I mean Labour)? Was your election stolen like ours in 2020?

Let this sink in. A Downing Street‑issued phone, used by Keir Starmer’s then chief of staff, is snatched in central London. Police logs show No 10 made no attempt to recover it, no approach to the Met’s specialist units, no MI5, no GCHQ – nothing. Now the ICO says it wasn’t told either, despite guidance to report any serious loss of personal data. If a Tory government had done this, Labour would be screaming ‘national security scandal’ on every channel.

@stuey_beef The tory government DID do this - And got away with it. You have a very short memory.

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers That's fair enough. Farages and Lowes visions are very much not mine either. And I'm not sure what Badenochs is. And that's why we all have a vote to use.

@GregHunter @RupertMyers Starmer u-turned at the outset. Whether we join in or not has little impact on the conflict, so he is merely showboating for his base at home at the expense of alliances abroad. Regardless of that, you clearly have different concerns to me. Starmer's vision of the UK is not mine

In the absence of any independent evidence whatsoever to corroborate a man who a) gave the wrong address b) didn’t identify to police his job or the sensitivity of the phone I’d say it’s pretty near-fetched to ask just how stolen the phone was at all
Sky News@SkyNews

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer tells reporters it is a "little bit far-fetched" to suggest that the theft of Morgan McSweeney's phone was to hide Peter Mandelson's messages. Live updates: trib.al/1evMZTO

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers "Covid was an aberration" You could say the same about the Iran conflict - It's nothing the UK caused, but we have to deal with it. And I think Starmer is handling it much better than Badenoch / Lowe / Farage would They were all very gung-ho to join in, before u-turning.

@GregHunter @RupertMyers Oh, I see. Well Brexit was national concensus, not party political. Covid was an aberration, that Starmer was no better qualified to deal with than any other politician. He's shown that he'd lock us up in a heartbeat though.

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers "Brexit was national concensus" Just, on a non-binding referendum, and made it over the line based on huge lies from some tory big names Johnson / Gove / Davies / Frost - All moved from EU support to anti-EU and told HUGE lies to get that vote. Part of my dislike for them.

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers I can't jump back and change my prior votes of course. But where I am now, Starmer is currently the 'least worst' option available to me.

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers And in hindsite when I look at what Thatchers policies did to the country, then Camarons austerity and referendum, followed by Johnsons rank dishonesty and Trusses incompetance - I probably shouldn't have been voting for them

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers Greens - I like some of their policies, and I'd like to leave a livable planet for my kids, but I don't think they are ready for the big time yet. So, Starmer it is. I think his handling of Trump and Iran conflict has been miles better than Badenoch or Farage would have done.

@GregHunter @RupertMyers For me, a govt that supports the markets, like perhaps the conservatives, but is determined to reverse our social decline (like Lowe), is who I would vote for. That isn't Starmer. Any suggestions?

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers Lowe - Angry man shouts at boats, little else of substance Farage - pure grifter - lived well for years of his Brexit grift, until it actually happened, largely disappeared for several years while he created his new grift - Could never support him

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers The conservatives are not fiscally responsible - Look at 2010 to 2024 for ample evidence of both their ineptitude and outright corruption. The mindset of the Restore leader seems to be utter incompetence, not even knowing the location of his own constituency. Relevant?

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers Restore? Lead by the idiot that rang to police to complain about rowers training in his harbour, because his doesn't realise how far his constituency is from the nearest non-uk landmass? No Thanks. Fiscally, Conservative? Can I suggest you read up about the 'VIP'-PPE Lane?

@GregHunter @RupertMyers Fiscally, possibly conservatives. Existentially, a govt with the mindset of Restore. Maybe Reform can cobble something together. Starmer is the antithesis of that.

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers I can't point to a single high level figure in politics you couldn't say that about. No-one out there is my ideal political choice. All are degrees of bad to worse. So I vote for the 'least worst' in my view. Currently that's still Starmer.

@bigbluetractor @RupertMyers I didn't say I was happy about his - There is plenty I wish Starmer / Labour would do differently But in political context this is far from the most egregious 'loosing' of messages we've seen this decade Unfortunately politics in the UK seems to be 'who is least worst' 😢

@davidyelland David your IT knowledge is sadly lacking. The messages are encrypted in transport, and only unencrypted when received onto the target device. They exist only on the sending and receiving device and nowhere in between, unless you chose to back them up. E2E Encryption. Go read.

It is, actually, impossible to lose WhatsApp messages by losing your iphone. They exist elsewhere. Not in the phone. PS The irony that News UK broke this story - the international CAPITAL of lost e-mails and texts… they know as much as anybody that in modern era all electronic messaging is stored in the cloud.
