@campbell_kang I think Countersocial is an offshoot of Mastodon, maybe? It's a little more structured I think. But now I'm trying to remember which Mastodon I was on...

I'm not sure if I'm leaving twitter for good, but even if it doesn't collapse, I can't see it being the place I want it to be now. I'm trying out CounterSocial if you want to find me there. I'm going to try to find academic folks and Asian studies folk over there 1/2

Of course the real problem is that a platform is only as good as its members, and it's very doubtful any platform will be able to match the critical mass here. It's also why they can bring back all the old racists and let new ones thrive, and folks will still stay.

For those of you asking: Yes, I do think this site can and will change pretty dramatically if Musk gets full control over it. No, there is no immediate replacement. If it gets done early enough, based on the people he's aligned with, yes, it could actually affect midterms.
