Our Human Books are drawn from groups in society that are stigmatised or stereotyped, marginalised, mistreated, or misunderstood, from race to religion or refugees, disability to discrimination, LGBT to mental health, and more.

@iconawrites One of the most innovative libraries I’ve encountered is the @HumanLibraryUK which creates a ‘dialogue room,’ where taboo topics can be discussed openly, without condemnation. A place where people who would otherwise never talk find room for conversation.

It would be fun if public libraries were well-funded and open in the evenings and we built a culture where it’s normal to gather at the library after work and browse the shelves and chat about the latest books and read the Saturday night away.
